I paid less than a $1000 for an AMD K6/500MHz PC three yeras ago with everything I needed. All I've upgraded since was the RAM and I've yet to see any need to switch from Win98 to WinXP.

"Honestly you have about another year before some killer application, that you just gotta have, comes along that requires a new computer. Most people upgrade/buy a new computer every 3 years, a few early adopters every 1 or 2. Four years is pushing it;-)
