He pretended to be a neighbor of O.J and was giving an onsite account next to him when he was parked in his driveway. Then yelled Howard Stearn. I might have heard a different guy, but this isn't what I remember. He gave an "on-site" report, and then closed it with something almost innocuous (something close to "hi to all my friends"), but it was clearly some sort of code.
Someone else then interrupted the anchor (don't remember if it was Jennings) and informed him that the closing was confirmation that the guy had fabricated the report.
Apparently, someone pulled a similar scam on July 4th after the shooting at LAX. But, I didn't hear it and don't remember the details.

I believe the Stern scammers use the name "Babbalouie" (not sure of spelling) from the show to end their calls and prove that they've fooled the media.

Nah, Jennings, like the half-a-head he is, fell for it for the longest time, even though the prank caller put on an obvious Amos 'n' Andy cartoon voice. It took Al Michaels to break in on the air and inform the public that the call was fake. Al was a fan on the Stern show.
