Oh, but some of the doubt that DW did it, comes from a belief in a lot of us that the van Dams "might" have done it. That's very important to the case.

For a long time, I tryed to keep seperate the possibilty that DW might be guilty, and concentrate on just the narrow issue of, has the state proved his guilt. They never came close. Now I'm ready to try the van Dams, because I feel that once the investigation centers on them, the truth will out, inspite of the rebuilt house, burnedup body, missing blue van, etc.

I can't really weigh in on the VD's guilt or innocence. It does, however, seem very unusual that they ripped up thier carpet, cleaned the carpet in the master bedroom, got rid of the van, and repainted the interior of the house all in a very short period of time after the disappearance of their daughter. Their behavior was and is disturbing, but I don't really know anything that would cause me to point the finger at them. Folks have made some interesting points in discussing the possibility, though, and it has been entertaining and enlightening to speculate.
