Get the perps and hang 'em high.
(07-11) 17:25 PDT -- San Francisco police said today that they have arrested one man in connection with two home-invasion robbery-rapes in Visitacion Valley during the past several days.
Steven Glass, 23, is facing dozens of charges in connection with the two incidents, according to Lt. Jere Williams of the department's Sexual Assault Unit. The lieutenant said calls made on a cell phone that was taken during one of the robberies led investigators to an address at the Sunnydale housing project Tuesday.
Inside, police said they found Glass and some jewelry that victims later identified as theirs, as well as a loaded Uzi inside a laundry hamper. He was initially arrested on weapons and narcotics charges, but is now in much more serious legal trouble.
The other two suspects in the incidents, which took place about eight blocks apart on July 2 and July 7, are still at large, according to Williams. "We're still trying to identify the other two,'' he explained, adding, "We have some leads.''
Williams said Sunday's incident alone, in which a mother and daughter were sexually assaulted inside their Peabody Street home, had led to some 27 counts against Glass.
"These are strange cases,'' the lieutenant commented. "We have home-invasion robberies, we have rapes. We don't usually have them together.''
A spokesman for the District Attorney's office said Glass was charged today, and is expected to be arraigned Friday morning in San Francisco Superior Court, on numerous counts of first-degree robbery and rape.
It probably won't be long before we hear how he was "turning his life around"....
More on this later, gotta go..
