WASHINGTON (AP) -- The United States is capable of launching a rapid attack on Iraq by marshaling 50,000 troops at the Kuwaiti border in roughly a week, airlifting them in and bringing their tanks and heavy equipment on ships through the Strait of Hormuz.

I believe once a serious attack begins, Saddam's regime is going to collapse like a house of cards. Would you want to be the last Iraqi to die for Saddam?

A definite factor in the equation. I hope we get a good accurate assessment of Iraqi troops willing to die for Saddam. My suspicions is like yours, Screw Saddam[Iraqi troops], "I'm not going to fight and dying for him."

Thanks for the ABL info. Truth is, I haven't heard very much about this program of late. Wonder if it is a close to being operational as they make it sound. It sure would be nice to be able to fit an ABL system into a layered defensive scheme.

Yes, I have s special font for "just kidding." However, since most browsers don't read the special HTML code for that font, your screen will probably just use the default settings. But you can usually tell anyway. Can't you?

Frankly, This is all about Iran.
The younger generation there want to throw off the tyrany of mulla rule. The only thing preventing them from taking control is the threat of the countries to their east and west. US troops are in Afghanistan, and US troops are in and around Iraq. The students could do their thing with absolutly NO threat from either country.

If the Iranian students ever were waiting for a good time, that time is now !

>If Bush decides to attack Iraq, the strike could be sudden

If Bush decides to attack Iraq, the strike against America could be sudden!

Saddam isn't a helpless mouse sitting awaiting destruction and no nation is invincible, in fact, some nations dwell carelessly like a queen and say, "I'll see no sorrow."

Re 18:7 How much she hath glorified herself, and lived deliciously, so much torment and sorrow give her: for she saith in her heart, I sit a queen, and am no widow, and shall see no sorrow.

Eze 39:6 And I will send a fire on Magog, and among them that dwell carelessly in the isles: and they shall know that I am the LORD.

Pr 16:18 Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall.

"And can the liberties of a nation be thought secure, when we have removed their only firm basis, a conviction in the minds of the people that these liberties are of the gift of God? That they are not to be violated but with his wrath? Indeed I tremble for my country when I reflect that God is just: that his justice can not sleep forever: that considering numbers, nature and natural means only, a revolution of the wheel of fortune, an exchange of situation is among possible events: that it may become probable by supernatural interference!" ...Thomas Jefferson (1782).

~~~~~~~
"In the United States Capitol building, Senators and Congressmen prayed for God to bring justice to those who had killed thousands.  Justice they will receive. These are the same men that legalized the procedure of doctor-assisted child delivery in which seconds before a baby takes his or her first breath, as he is still constricted in the mother’s birth canal, the doctor inserts a sharpened steel instrument up into the base of the babies skull and severs the brain from the spinal column.  Instead of taking a breath 5 seconds later and then nursing contently on her mother’s breast, the child is “still born” - after the painful convulsions cease.  The baby is then gutted and its organs are sold to research facilities.  And these calloused atheist politicians pray to God for justice?  You sick, arrogant bastards! Instead of humbling yourselves and repenting for the sins of our nation, you haughtily, with great national pride and fanfare, ask the God who we have offended, to give us the strength bring to “justice” all of those who have offended us?  More babies are killed each day by the stroke of the pen and the American Medical Industry, than were killed in the WTC attack.  Judgment is coming to America, and it will come at the hands of the merciless worshippers of the moon god - because America has forsaken the one true God.
"Repent. The day of the LORD is at hand." ...Michael Rood.  See 9 or this for full text:  Michael Rood on Zechariah -- the flying scroll is a missile
Not to be a disruptor, but I don't see an attack on Iraq unless and until the Harken, Holiburton and Judicial Watch lawsuit gets some legs.
There is nothing there. All of these will be non-stories in just a few weeks.
The attack on Iraq will occur when the situation calls for it, not on any political considerations. This is not the Clinton Administration.
I think Saddam could have figured this out on his own. He likely has Anthrax and other biological agents with sleepers ready to go.
If he does that, then there will be no invasion, or whatever invasion there is will be halted, because we'll simply start dropping nukes on Baghdad and any other points in Iraq of even minor military interest.
He was warned about this in 1990 through backdoor diplomatic channels: "The Gulf War is going to be a conventional war. You use any nerve gas or bioagents or any other WMDs, and we will nuke you." Saddam got the message. And if we were willing to launch nukes over lousy little Kuwait, you can be damn sure we're willing to do so over WMD attacks on US soil.
The problem is, he knows he is not getting out of this alive. Is he "crazy" enough to take his whole country with him?
