If Gore had become America's 2000 DictatorI stopped reading at this point. If someone seriously thinks that Bush is a dictator, then he must be expecting the knock on the door soon.

This guy forgot
Tax cut
Repeal of the estate tax
and Pro-life

Tax cut? You mean setting tax levels higher than they were before his dad or clinton raised them to levels they each admitted were too high?
Repeal of the estate tax? You mean eliminating the step up in basis, and establishing only a temporary one-year repeal of the estate tax, so that if nothing is done by a future congress, estate taxes will be much higher than ever, even for middle-wealth families?
I agree with the article in every respect. Unless he vetos an assault weapon ban extension, I will vote for someone else, guaranteed.

I had made up my mind to vote for Bush if it was close in my state, but the polls had Bush leading Forrest Gore by 20%, so I cast a NO vote and voted for Harry Browne. But everything I have seen of Harry Browne since then has been pathetic. If he is the best that the national LP can put out there then they just need to fold up their tents and go back to watching Star Trek re-runs.
I like L Neil Smith, and have corresponded with him via email a number of times, but his ideas will never come to fruition in this country. After ten years as a frustrated libertarian, I have come to realize that the only path to some semblance of Constitutional government in America is to reform the GOP and move them more toward the goals of the RLC (Republican Liberty Caucus).

Well then if anything be thankful that its 2 years away and that decision doesnt have to be made today.
There is still plenty of time to bash him until then.

Anyone who has tried to raise funds for state level grass roots legislative action on the RKBA issue (fighting gun show bills, ccw reciprocity, state pre-emption against city ordnances, etc.) can see that with the election of GWB, complacency on this issue has sunk to all time lows. So on the basis of this issue and Shamaya's focus, it's not hard to see his frustration.
The duplicity of this administration on Emerson is nauseating. If the Clinton admonistration was doing what the Bush administration has done, conservatives wouldn't be giving him a pass on these behaviors. This is a perfect example of practicing the dialectic, giving up one's position for relationship- in this case having "our guy" in the Executive. As far as I'm concerned, the Republican party have demonstrated that they are little more than controlled opposition. These fools will keep selling the store just so they can claim they own it.

The GOP told me that if I voted for Pat Buchanan it would put a man in the White House who would sign McCain- Feingold.
The GOP told me that if I voted for Pat Buchanan it would put a man in the White House who would put political expediency ahead of the Constitution.
The GOP told me that if I voted for Pat Buchanan it would put a man in the White House who would vote for the NEAs agenda on education spending.
The GOP told me that if I voted for Pat Buchanan it would put a man in the White House who would increase gov spending & subsidies.
The GOP told me that if I voted for Pat Buchanan it would put a man in the office who would leave the Clinton executive orders in effect.
The GOP told me that if I vote for Pat Buchanan it would put a man in the White House who would be sympathetic to illegal aliens.
Well I did vote for Pat Buchanan - Every one of those things that the GOP predicted has come to pass.

The problem is that both major parties want gun control to continue - the demos want a total ban and the Repubos only want to maintain the staus quo. That's what led to Angel's rant. I don't completely agree with the whole article, but the one thing that really sticks in my craw is the Bush administration's position on the AW sunset. Its not, however, that Bush was dishonest about that. His campaign website said he was in favor of the AW ban.
I am hopeful that we (fervent RKBA advocates, Shamaya included) can lean on Bush enough to have him change his mind. There is plenty of ammo published about the worthlessness of the 1994 federal AW ban, some of published by the US (Clinton Administration!) DOJ itself which commissioned an independent study in 1996 or so, which concluded that the ban had absolutely NO positive effect on gun crime/gun violence.
Bush's action (assuming he's re-elected)on the sunset of the AW ban (due in 2004)will tell the tale about the Repubos and gun control.
