Halliburton Responds to Larry Klayman's Supersillyous Suit(My Title)
CBS Market Watch "Big Charts" Web Site ^ | 7/10/2002 | MarketWatch.com

Posted on 07/10/2002 11:04:03 AM PDT by SierraWasp

12:57PM Halliburton responds to Judicial Watch lawsuit (HAL) by Michael Baron Halliburton (HAL) is off 30 cents, or 2.1 percent, to $13.82, in midday action. The company is out with a press release responding to a lawsuit filed by Judicial Watch, a Washington, D.C.-based legal watchdog group. The suit alleges fraudulent accounting practices at Halliburton took place during the period when current vice president Dick Cheney served as its chairman and CEO. Halliburton called the claims in the suit, "untrue, unsupported, and unfounded." The company continued: "We are working diligently with the SEC to resolve its questions regarding the company's accounting procedures. Halliburton has always followed and will continue to follow guidelines established by the SEC and GAAP, General Accepted Accounting Principles."

All 'fixed' bid contracts are done on the same basis regardless of scale. Low bids assume the specifications will change and changes are where profit is to be found.

When you have up to 20 billion dollars in the procurement pipeline at any time, cost of money and float are also large profit generators. Hell in the engineering phase document reproduction and handling are very often the largest profit center for the project. There is NO such animal as a "fixed cost" contract in EPC since each phase is commonly under different contract terms and conditions. Larry will find this out when he is torn apart in court assuming this ever sees the light of day.

Larry is going to find out that these projects are done by multiple project taskforces each with its own contract budget and infrastructure. This has absolutely NOTHING to do with AA accounting practices and everything to do with Larry's abysmal understanding of why he filed this suit in the first place.

Not in my opinion.

But you've already admitted you know nothing about accounting.

And I'm not so sure you've even read the complaint.

You really ought to take some business courses. Just to be well-rounded, you know.

Do you really think you have enough knowledge on the subject to make an informed opinion?

Or do you just believe Larry?

"...trading with Libya"

What were they trading, dingleberries? Halliburton is an oilwell services company. They don't do any trading. Maybe you mean, "did business with", but then, since Libya is part of OPEC, if you, Norm and Larry buy oil...you do business with Libya too!!! Just think, even someone as silly as you, can be an enemy of the people.

Good morning, Deb. So how do you think all this mess is going to shake out? We know the Dems' dream nourished now by the newly popular with the propaganda ministry's pundit's Larry Klayman - is to impeach both our Pres and VP - if they can.....but if not, to hurt them badly enough through the propaganda to take theHouse and win the Seenate in Nov -and THEN go after impeachment. THAT is their goal and they will not stop til they reach it, IMHO. Or maybe that's too dramatic a take on the sleazoids?

I can never decide which company I love more, Halliburton, Red Adair, Otis or Schlumberger.

Amazing men. Extraordinary companies.

Klayman should be in Levenworth for this crap. He couldn't carry their cowboy boots...the little, pink baby-man.

The Democrats have reached such a disgusting level, they'd be happy to destroy the economy of the country if it meant they'd control Congress in November.

They'd also be thrilled with an even bigger terror attack, if it meant the voters would turn on Bush.

Larry Klayman, John McCain and the Democrat party...Profiles in Courage.

In order to impeach, they'd have to find something GW and Cheney did while in office that reached the level of "high crimes and misdemeanors". That won't happen, but they'll be content if they can succeed at keeping Bush a one term President.

Good to see you. I gotta go run my dogs.

"Larry Klayman, John McCain and the Democrat party...Profiles in Courage.' - sarcasm off....YES - or Profiles in Outrage - no sarcasm intended!

Agree on your "diagnosis" - go run the dogs. More later.

You don't know a thing about the SEC, nor the Markets . I have no idea just where you got the idea that the SEC monitors every single thing that is said / done . Yes, they have issued regulations; most of which have caused far more harm than good, as is the case with so many governmental agencies.

If the " alll powerful / all seeing / all knowing " SEC monitors EVERYTHING , then how is it, that Redbone was able to turn Miz HITLERY's 1,000 dollars into 100,000 dollars , illegally </B., oh so easily. BTW, it was NOT the first time that he had pulled off this kind of scam ( yes, dear, the SEC had chastened / punished him previously, for the same garbage ! ), nor was she the ONLY person, whom he had done it for. BTW ... the guys in Chicago, ALL laughed their collective socks off, at HRC's explinations. They ALL knew exactly how it had been done. You see, dear, the CBOT had long ago BANNED Redbone. The SEC didn't do a damned thing.

Yes, dear, I DO know what I am talking about; unlike you.

Nope, Luis, NEVER got an accounting, from old Larry. What we DID get, was a bunch of one dollar bills, which we decided to keep, as long as he was sending them out, and we VERY long ago, stopped sending the conman any more money.

Since this is the only Cheney thread I can see that is active, I wanted to ask you all a question concerning Cheney and the SEC investigation/Larry's suit. (Not the Matlock suit, the supersillyous one)
Question: Don't you think that Dick Cheney, when considering the job as Bush's running mate, took very careful measure of his past, any skeletons in his closet, etc., knowing that ALL of his "laundry" was going to be brought out by the media and by campaign opponents? In other words, wouldn't he have very carefully weighed his Halliburton background before agreeing to run? He seems way too sharp for there to be any "there" there. What do you think?

I have seen him (Cheney) answer Tim Russerts idiotic questions on this topic in the past, both before the election, after the President was elected and as recent as this year. It has been covered.
Larry is yelling "fire" and some people don't realize they are dealing with someone who couldn't light a match in hell. But let's hope he gets the chance.
