Halliburton Responds to Larry Klayman's Supersillyous Suit(My Title)

12:57PM Halliburton responds to Judicial Watch lawsuit (HAL) by Michael Baron Halliburton (HAL) is off 30 cents, or 2.1 percent, to $13.82, in midday action. The company is out with a press release responding to a lawsuit filed by Judicial Watch, a Washington, D.C.-based legal watchdog group. The suit alleges fraudulent accounting practices at Halliburton took place during the period when current vice president Dick Cheney served as its chairman and CEO. Halliburton called the claims in the suit, "untrue, unsupported, and unfounded." The company continued: "We are working diligently with the SEC to resolve its questions regarding the company's accounting procedures. Halliburton has always followed and will continue to follow guidelines established by the SEC and GAAP, General Accepted Accounting Principles."

We live in America, and in America people bring suit against others for many reasons, including the "trashing" of a reputation. The courts are there to decide whether the suits have any validity to them. I haven't pre-judged Cheney, or have any negativity towards his reputation. If these charges are true, we'll find out. Maybe you are one that "jumps to a conclusion" when someone has a lawsuit brought against them, I am not. I believe in innocent until proven guilty, and for those that don't, well, they are entitled to their opinion.

I didn't file the Complaint. Judicial Watch did. The evidence is later to be proven through Discovery. The court should treat the allegations "as is" and allow for Discovery to proceed to further prove Cheney is personally responsible. We will probably find out that there are other high profile people in this as well. Might even have the Clintons involved.

Yes, of course a civil action suit can have criminal elements. Just like the O.J. Simpson case had civil and criminal elements in it, so can this. I'm curious as to how JW will proceed with this on both ends. Very interesting case.

We will probably find out that there are other high profile people in this as well. Might even have the Clintons involved.

There are allegations that Klayman and Clinton are friends. There are allegations that Ross Perot and Clinton are friends, and conspired during the 1992 election so that Clinton would win. There are allegations that Perot is currently financing Judicial Watch's actions against the Bush administration.

There are allegations that there are serious financial irregularities in Klayman's organization, and that's why he won't comply with the IRS audit. There are allegations that James Carville and Larry Klayman have conspired on some of these cases.

Lots of allegations. Plenty of high-profile people involved.

For me to make the judgment that someone has made an untrue, unsupported and unfounded charge would require me to know without a doubt that the facts actually prove the accusation false. You don't know the facts in this case and neither do I, that's for the court to figure out. BTW, I will say this, that you and your clan of angry warthogs have done more harm against others in this forum than Klayman ever has.

I just told you Amelia, neither one of us has enough facts to say that the case agains Halliburton and Cheney is a farce. I wait until all the data comes in before I make a determination. You have chosen otherwise. That's fine, but don't slam people for waiting for all the facts to come in before deciding one way or the other. That's where you and I differ.
