12:57PM Halliburton responds to Judicial Watch lawsuit (HAL) by Michael Baron Halliburton (HAL) is off 30 cents, or 2.1 percent, to $13.82, in midday action. The company is out with a press release responding to a lawsuit filed by Judicial Watch, a Washington, D.C.-based legal watchdog group. The suit alleges fraudulent accounting practices at Halliburton took place during the period when current vice president Dick Cheney served as its chairman and CEO. Halliburton called the claims in the suit, "untrue, unsupported, and unfounded." The company continued: "We are working diligently with the SEC to resolve its questions regarding the company's accounting procedures. Halliburton has always followed and will continue to follow guidelines established by the SEC and GAAP, General Accepted Accounting Principles."

Do you understand what his basis for the case is? It is an interpretation of cost plus billing.Big deal.

All he would have to do is reconcile the 10-K's from the SEC with the tax returns from the IRS.So, why hasn't he got that info before he makes the claim that Cheney is liable to be impeached? its a wild claim best left for the fringe.Larry barely knows the law, and now is going to tell all that he undestands cost accounting as well?

Where are the Dems big guns, say David Boies?? I'd think that a bigtime Dem lawyer would salivate at a chance to play partisan hatchet man, if all Larry says is so.

I was surfing around the Washington Times today and one article an interesting little tidbit:

The suit says Halliburton and Andersen violated securities laws when they did not disclose and justify the accounting change in a letter to investors. Halliburton's financial statements starting in 1998 do note, however, that it was booking uncollected revenue from cost overruns.

Ann Coulter has played "kissy face" with Larry Klayman because Klayman can pay HUGE amounts of dollars to her. With $26,000,000 +++++ in revenues, JW is well able to influence Coulter's opinions, or so it seems.

That's one of the most ridiculous efforts at defense that's been on here yet. Isn't that also true for Enron's/Lay's case as well? Or did they turn their Trick Machine off when they worked with Halliburton and Cheney?

That was not a defense that was a statement of fact. However my question still stands. What is it that Halliburton and Cheney did that is illegal?
