It seems that so far, the real evidence consists of similar very short nylon blue-gray fibers from an unknown source and which appear to be a very common color/fiber type. Does anyone know if the SDPD wears 'blue uniforms' which are more of a 'steel blue'? If so they could be the source of the blue-gray fibers.

Who handled the sheet in which the body of Danielle was placed prior to putting Danielle's body in it, and did those who recover the body take appropriate care to insure the sheet was not contaminated and taken from a sealed container of some sort? Also, why were there far more fibers on the sheet holding the body of Danielle than on Danielle's body (I think I recall that only one fiber was found on her body)? One would think that far more fibers would have been 'stuck' and remained stuck as her body dried out in the dry climate.

If DW did kill Danielle and he was followed beginning the next day, I have a hard time believing that there would still be loose fibers that would so easily fall off her body and onto a sheet. I assume the desert does get windy and the wind would have blown most of the fibers that were there.

Another question to be asked is how did Danielle's body get to her location after the site was searched and DW was being followed and in jail? Inquiring minds want to know!

I remain unconvinced that the fibers are actually nylon, and if they are, they most likely came from a car floormat that could possibly be tied to Damon's blue van that he sold shortly after Danielles disappearance. This would also explain how 'similar fibers' ended up in DW's house if Brenda was driving Danielle around to sell GS cookies, assuming they came from the same source.

If I were Feldman, I would check to make sure the fibers weren't actually polyester, unless the prosecutor is going to claim the fibers came from the MH sheets and comforter. If Dusek makes this assertion, Feldman would be in a bit of a quandry because if the fibers are actually polyester, the prosecutor would have a much better case as it relates to the fiber evidence. Strategy-wise, maybe it is better to just not mention that the sheets/comforter could not have been nylon and if DW is convicted, to raise that fact as new evidence which would warrant a new trial. TO raise it now might give the prosecutor an opportunity to do a more detailed analysis of the fibers. The problem for the prosecutor in that case is it would look bad that they screwed up the first tests, and if the fibers are polyester, there are many, many clothes made with polyester and the fibers would match a huge number of blue fibers found in garments that surely must be in the closets of vitually every person in the United States.

Chances are excellent that DW has garments with blue/blue-grey polyester fibers. Police uniforms, if a combination of a few shades of blue/blue-grey would almost certainly have polyester fibers in some combination with possibly other fibers such as cotton or wool (remember it was winter when Danielle disappeared. If the fibers are actually polyester and Feldman can produce garments worn by DW that are made with blue polyester, especially shirts (remember that fibers were found on MH headboard); his leaning back against the headboard while watching TV or engaging in some 'adult activities' with a girlfriend would be a reasonable explanation s to why the fibers were on the headboard.
