You are correct of course...It could have been a completely separate issue..she left BECAUSE of the drinking problem, more than likely not cuz of the forcefulness. The forcefulness was done during the drinking..but we don't know what kind. It wasn't a huge issue for Susan L cuz she still cares enough to cry for him..

Just thought that I would toss this out to you - I have a friend who dated a man older than herself who she cared about very much but could just not be in a relationship with because he was would get very depressed. He was seemingly normal and very nice - but he would get real down about a lot of things like his divorce and how his life had worked out - not necessarily while he was drinking - but it's something my friend could not really deal with. She continued to be this man's friend though - and went over to his home one day and found him dead - suicide - note and all - she said she wasn't really surprised. Maybe DW was like this? Why did they have to leave it hanging with that "forceful" comment - frustrating.

Kim, you don't know much about "drinking problems" apparently. Most people who have them don't believe they have them. Others around them who do believe they have them try to "save them" from themselves. The drinkers tend to resent that. Indeed, no amount of "saving" will work until the drinker him/herself begins to believe they have a problem--and more important--that they want to confront it and do something about it. They can be forced to go to treatment, led to water as it were, but no one can force them to give up drinking if they are unwilling.

This has broken up many couples, friends, and families. It does not in any way indicate that this lovely woman broke up with him because he's a murderer.
