VICE PRESIDENT CHENEY SUED PERSONALLY FOR ALLEGED STOCK FRAUD
Alleged Fraudulent Accounting Practices Occurred At Halliburton
PRESS CONFERENCE
Date: July 10, 2002
Time: 9:00 A.M.
Location: Sheraton Hotel Parlor 1, 495 Brickell Ave Miami, FL
(Washington, D.C.) Judicial Watch, the group that investigates and prosecutes corruption by government officials, announced today that it is filing a shareholders suit in Dallas, Texas, against Vice President Dick Cheney and the other involved directors of Halliburton, as well as Halliburton itself, for alleged fraudulent accounting practices which resulted in the overvaluation of the companys shares, thereby deceiving investors and others.
The suit comes one day after President George W. Bush, who himself is enmeshed in allegations of insider trading when he was an executive, who sat on the audit committee of Harken Energy Company, announced a plan to crack down on corporate fraud. Ironically, it would appear that the Presidents rush to propose more regulation of private industry is intended to deflect attention away from his and his Vice Presidents own alleged improper business practices. President Bush has maintained that he was cleared by the Securities and Exchange Commission. Others have countered that the head of the agency was then an appointee of his father, President George H.W.Bush.
President Clinton and the Democratic Party used a similar gambit when they were caught taking money illegally from foreign donors, including the Communist Chinese. Instead of prosecuting vigorously the Clintons and other guilty politicians, new campaign finance laws were proposed to deflect attention away from alleged crimes.
Whether it is the Enron, Arthur Andersen, Global Crossing, or now the Halliburton and Harken scandals, there is a dangerous intersection between politicians of all stripes, Democrat and Republican, attempting to feed at the trough of business greed. As is true of the Clinton scandals, the American people cannot look the other way just because the President and Vice President are allegedly involved. Indeed, Judicial Watch has already sued Democrat and Republican officials in the Enron and Global Crossing scandals. To look the other way for the Vice President would be to set a precedent that the Washington elite are above the law. This cannot be permitted if our democracy is to survive, stated Judicial Watch Chairman and General Counsel Larry Klayman.
In 1995 Halliburton was prosecuted and forced to plead guilty to trading with Libya, a terrorist state on the U.S. watch list.
A press conference will be held in Miami at 9:00 A.M. at the Sheraton Hotel at 495 Brickell Avenue to announce and detail this suit.

Beckie,
It is time to grow up and quit whining. You have posted quite a bit of personal information about yourself on this forum: your real name, age, height, weight, hair style, ethnicity, type of college you attend, your major, your high school activities, your preferred style of clothing, even your preferred style of UNDERWEAR for goodness sake!
Then you get upset when people make "personal" comments about you or ask you "personal" questions such as "Do you work for Judicial Watch"?
It's okay for you to call people names, say they're pathetic, make jabs at Howlin about the loss of her son, or whatever, but let anyone say anything about you, and you're crying to JimRob or the moderator...or getting your friends to take up for you. It's okay for you to accuse others of being old, but please don't let anyone say that you might be immature.
It's okay for you to insult people while using Our Lord and Savior's name as part of your screen name. It's even okay for you to ridicule DaughterofanIwoJimaVet for saying that God knows what is in our hearts...and ping your friends to do the same, on two different threads.
Some people apparently felt sorry for you earlier on this thread. I'd suggest that either those people haven't seen the whole Beckie yet, or maybe they have an agenda of their own.
If you're gonna dish it out, be prepared to take it without whining. If you can't play with the grownups, go back to Yahooligans! or something. I don't understand why you expect there to be a double standard here for you.
Sincerely,
Amelia

February, 2002: Look! I'm wearing a sweater. I love this sweater. I'll never take it off. If they want me to take it off, they'll have to pry it from my grip. I'm going to wear it every night for my "common man" segment.
April, 2002: I'm not going to wear my sweater anymore. Those "common men" were boring.
'Pod, the production on that show was simply awful - which tells me that Alan Keyes surrounds himself with people who don't know what they're doing (it wasn't just the kids at MSNBC). Even his fans complained about it. This idea that Larry Klayman would be his chosen AG is just one more example of his inability to judge character and ability.
Of course, you may disagree. You may think Klayman is a good man. Do you?

Ref. 803 above. I think it is a fair observation, IMO

Thank you for saying something that needed to be explained. Some will still believe whatever they want, but everything you spoke about is absolutely accurate.
The incident concerning Howlin was the one of the worst I've ever seen.

I found it odd today that when I heard a brief story about this lawsuit on two different networks, in both instances, JW was referred to only as a Virginia based "watchdog" group.
The name "Judicial Watch" was never stated. I wondered why. Any ideas?

Well stated...... and accurate, IMO.

The name "Judicial Watch" was never stated. I wondered why. Any ideas? I'd suspect that the media wanted to mention the lawsuit, if for no other reason, to spread a whiff of scandal over the administration.
As to why the name of Judicial Watch wasn't mentioned, it could be that the networks didn't think anyone would recognize the name anyway, or it could be that they didn't think anyone would take it seriously if they knew who'd filed the lawsuit.
There could be another reason, but I can't think of it right now. I wouldn't think that Klayman is real happy at his group not getting the publicity that would go with the mention, though!

I like the fact that he goes after corrupt people no matter the party. I would like to see more results than he has produced, and i have heard about his case where he sued his mother (over helping out w/ care for his late grandmother).
I also know people that work for him and I trust their judgement.
AFA Keyes goes, his TV ability grew once he became more practiced w/ it. Agree w/ the sweater.
AFA Klayman being AG, he couldn't be any worse than Ashcroft or Reno. Unless of course, you like the Patriot Act.

You are of course distorting the facts. I have never posted my height, or my real name, nor the exact place of where I attend college.

You have no clue what "fairness" is.

Rushs guest host today said Carville was connected with Judicial Watch and helped organize it through some union contributions.
Can anyone confirm this, have a link?

Re: post #782
Well, given that my favorite sport is college basketball, and that my favorite team (from my alma mater) won this year's Men's NCAA Champoionship (and got to cut the net down), I'll take that, ump.
Besides, as you should know if you monitor this forum:

There's nothing like calling your friends in for your above post either, is there?I believe she did that because she mentioned all of our names in her post. She was simply practicing good etiquette, which is quite different than what you were doing when you went to other threads to round up people to ridicule me.
Most people recognize that Amelia doesn't need anyone's help.
