VICE PRESIDENT CHENEY SUED PERSONALLY FOR ALLEGED STOCK FRAUD
Alleged Fraudulent Accounting Practices Occurred At Halliburton
PRESS CONFERENCE
Date: July 10, 2002
Time: 9:00 A.M.
Location: Sheraton Hotel Parlor 1, 495 Brickell Ave Miami, FL
(Washington, D.C.) Judicial Watch, the group that investigates and prosecutes corruption by government officials, announced today that it is filing a shareholders suit in Dallas, Texas, against Vice President Dick Cheney and the other involved directors of Halliburton, as well as Halliburton itself, for alleged fraudulent accounting practices which resulted in the overvaluation of the companys shares, thereby deceiving investors and others.
The suit comes one day after President George W. Bush, who himself is enmeshed in allegations of insider trading when he was an executive, who sat on the audit committee of Harken Energy Company, announced a plan to crack down on corporate fraud. Ironically, it would appear that the Presidents rush to propose more regulation of private industry is intended to deflect attention away from his and his Vice Presidents own alleged improper business practices. President Bush has maintained that he was cleared by the Securities and Exchange Commission. Others have countered that the head of the agency was then an appointee of his father, President George H.W.Bush.
President Clinton and the Democratic Party used a similar gambit when they were caught taking money illegally from foreign donors, including the Communist Chinese. Instead of prosecuting vigorously the Clintons and other guilty politicians, new campaign finance laws were proposed to deflect attention away from alleged crimes.
Whether it is the Enron, Arthur Andersen, Global Crossing, or now the Halliburton and Harken scandals, there is a dangerous intersection between politicians of all stripes, Democrat and Republican, attempting to feed at the trough of business greed. As is true of the Clinton scandals, the American people cannot look the other way just because the President and Vice President are allegedly involved. Indeed, Judicial Watch has already sued Democrat and Republican officials in the Enron and Global Crossing scandals. To look the other way for the Vice President would be to set a precedent that the Washington elite are above the law. This cannot be permitted if our democracy is to survive, stated Judicial Watch Chairman and General Counsel Larry Klayman.
In 1995 Halliburton was prosecuted and forced to plead guilty to trading with Libya, a terrorist state on the U.S. watch list.
A press conference will be held in Miami at 9:00 A.M. at the Sheraton Hotel at 495 Brickell Avenue to announce and detail this suit.

I used to think he was a harmless buffoon. I am beginning to realize how despicable he is.

I don't think Larry has been "paid off." I think Larry wants to be a "player." That's why he was so busy trying to stick his nose into the Floriduh voting controversy in Sanders Saul's courtroom-- where he was told he had no standing. That's when it occurred to me that Larry's goal is to wield power any way he can.

Well, I would gladly chip in to file a class action suit against this guy. Maybe I will start my own "ethical watchdog watchdog" group, and 501c3 status.
Then I can send out fundraising letters asking for donations to watch the watchdog. Ha!

Or did he just get a ride on the cruise?

You are so right. Alan Keyes wanted to appoint him as Attorney General if he was elected President.
Larry's having a tantrum because President Bush didn't give him the time of day. He obviously recognized a clymer when he saw one.
This is Larry's idea of, "I'll show you". Oh, and while I'm at it I'll collect a few million dollars more to spend raising more money.
I'm so mad at this idiot I could spit!

I am with you. Notice the time...right when Gephardt and Daschle were on TV with their little parade of victims.
The New York Times has been doing theier part as well.

Why is his press conference in Miami? Did he get run out of Washington?
Klayman is a resident of the State of Florida. In order to keep the favorable tax treatment of being a Florida resident, he has to be physically present in the state for a certain number of days. That's why JW has a Florida office and why JW takes on so many Florida-based suits. The November 2000 hearings in Judge Sauls court were really valuable in this regard.
Public Data.Com. confirms that Klayman has a Florida drivers license, as does his wife, Stephanie Luck (Klayman). Their residence is a condo which I am informed is owned and maintained by JW. The condo was donated by some as yet unknown benefactor who would have received a tax write-off (hmmmm, Klayman?).
Stephanie was the bookkeeper/accountant for Klayman & Associates and JW before Klayman married her and, I am informed, the knowledgeable person about the "real" books of JW. She gets called in when certain things are too hot for the regular help to handle. She is by all accounts a really nice person. No one can imagine how she can possibly be yoked to Klayman. But they have three children under the age of five.

"I hope Cheney counter-sues Klayman and takes him to the cleaners."
Larry must be planning to retire....on democrat donations.

Now that's disappointing. I thought AK had more sense than that.

Did Donato ever get his money? That is a very good question. Anyone know?

I truly hope that Cheney, Wendy Gramm, and all of the other people whom Klayman has personally sued would sue him right back. I would be willing to do whatever I could to assist such a countersuit.
To: TLBSHOW
I forgot about that one!

I wonder if Halliburton wuld get involved in this? I mean, you can't sue Cheney and not sue the directors and such.
THEN Klayman would not be dealing with one lawyer, but a bank of corporate attorneys. That would be nice.
