That, sir, was a great narrative! You wanna share the URL of the place where you got the rockets?
To: pabianice
You are one of those IDIOTS that I am so glad I do NOT live next to. Hilarious story, though. ¡Viva Texas!

Ever heard of anvil firing?
To: pabianice
Reminds me of my younger days. My boys have always wanted me to teach them how to build some of the rockets, etc I used to build. No way! I cringe to this day at some of the stunts I pulled.
LOVED your story.....still chuckling.

Great story! I still remember my childhood ('60's) when we spent the month of June blowing up all the models we built the year before ... LOL
I have seen anvil firing live, great fun! Head's up though ....

Andrew-
It's against the law to be you. Don't ever change.

Hilarious.........and I thought of you two angels immediately.......I don't know why.......lol

Sounds like a story from when I was a kid, im a little older now and can afford my own big rockets. I just have to drive about 60 miles to Missouri, there is nothing quiet about those rockets even if they dont have a report at the end.

My brother likes to fill a leaf bag with 50% oxygen and 50% acetelyne, tie it off, and throw a firecracker on it.

Is there a Buncombe county in Texas?
To: pabianice
Now THAT is what a 4th type thang oughta be like. This guy has it down!!!
To: Husker24
They still do it at some of the black powder events around here, and some of the blacksmiths will do it just for fun. It gets a little expensive though - a half pound of powder at a time adds up in a hurry!

This is the funniest thing I have read in a long time! Having been a precocious pyro myself as a kid, I blew myself up with some regularity so I can relate directly to this guy. I was already LOL until I got to this line...
Unfortunately, when they are viewed at ground level, these little popper thingies become REALLY BIG POPPER THINGIES and have a tendency to jump up to 15-feet in every direction from their point of ignition.
...and lost it altogether!
GREAT post 8^))
