The sort of irrational denial of reality that is the subject of this great article seems at first inexplicable. It appears that our government officials are having great trouble adjusting to the new world of Islamic terrorism, because if they do, it opens up many troublesome areas. If we are to focus our resources on those most likely to be responsible, that is to say, those who have a much higher statistical incidence of involvement, then where does that lead? Young black males are overwhelmingly more likely to be involved in violent crime than the rest of the population, but politicians run like crazy from focusing resources on them ("racial profiling"). Democrats sit still, hoping to hang on to the black vote which is the only thing that keeps them competitive. Republicans sit it out, not wanting the media arm of the democrat party to smear them as racist. The rest of us suffer from increased risk due to misallocation of scarce security and enforcement resources to avoid hurting anyone's feelings. So in the airports, searches are wasted on people who clearly not risks, and on the streets law enforcement actually avoids stopping blacks for fear of facing false race allegations.

Correct. Republicans need to learn to ignore the media. It doesn't really represent popular opinion. As long as Republicans keep doing what the media tells them to, the RATs will continue to have the upper hand--after all, the media serves the RATs.

When Republicans start laughing into the face of those obnoxious journalists, and say: "Well if the liberal media is so mad at us, we must be doing something right," then the Leftist press will be revealed for the ridiculous buffoons they are, and the RATs will soon find out what Napoleon must have felt like the day after Waterloo!
