Someone needs to remind Mr Brock that America is a nation of immigrants and those immigrants have ALWAYS demanded their hosts immediate and total respect; the expressing hateful(tm) opinions (such as belief in a common language) will not be tolerated by said immigrants, and that our diversity is our strength.

A nation of immigrants, eh skeeter? So from which country did you immigrate?

That's kinda funny, because for an "immigrant", I can't seem to recall having been born in another country...oh, I remember! I was born right here in the US! Enid, Oklahoma to be exact. Hmmmm....so I guess I'm not an immigrant. Come to think of it, of all the people I know...family, friends, associates, clients, etc...only one of them was born outside the US. Hmmmm...I guess they're not immigrants either. Wow...since this a nation of immigrants, I must be the only guy in the country who isn't one, or who doesn't know any...

OR...maybe the United States in 2002 isn't a nation of immigrants, and those who say it is are full of BS PC crap. Hmmmm.....

Scouts Out! Cavalry Ho!

I think someone needs to remind Skeeter that immigrants demanding their hosts' immediate and total respect is a new attitude among certain ethnic groups. Exactly what other immigrant group in history has demanded this kind of special treatment, that their language receive special status above the language of our country?? My great-grandparents were all first-generation immigrants (Italian & Polish) and they not only all learned English, but they were proud to do it for THEIR country. How dare you insult these and other ethnic groups by including them with people who can only whine about what we owe them (HUH???) and how they shouldn't have to learn English. It would be racist to ask them to stop speaking Spanish - how is it racist to simply ask them to learn the language of their new country? If I moved to Mexico or Russia I would do all I could to learn the language and culture. Wouldn't you?
