Gray Davis is about Gray Davis. The rest of the people are about 9/11. Playing politics is a dangerous game right now. Davis doesn't get it.

I would be "out for myself" too if Davis was my gov. Im sure Simon would feel better if Davis wasnt gov....so I guess he is for himself in that aspect.

Davis' campaign on Monday also released a 30-second television ad that focuses on the governor's record as a U.S. Army captain in Vietnam, service that earned him the Bronze Star for meritorious service.
LOL .. What did he do .. drive beer to the troops thru minefields?

The "assault weapons" ban, SB-23, that Davis signed means that a National Guardsman cannot purchase his own AR-15 to maintain his marksmanship skills, and his only option otherwise is to try to check out an M-16 from massively underfunded armories, twice a year if he's lucky.

Republican gubernatorial candidate Bill Simon on Monday outlined a plan to revamp the military organization. By calling upon all able bodied male citizens to arm themselves?

This story also appeared in 5 other major state papers. Yes, but in the San Francisco Chronicle, the headline read something like: "Simon rips National Guard"

The obvious reaction to that ad:
"So, Gray, exactly what is it you've done for us as governor? Not during Vietnam, as governor?"
