LOL. What is a peep?
To: stainlessbanner
That is terrific. I'd love to see that throughout the south. I just returned from a trip to Colorado where my confederate flag t-shirts attracted a lot of attention...but not so positive. My first gas stop in the state, the guy at the counter asked me if that meant I was a racist. I said "no." He said he had a friend who always got mad when he saw the confederate flag because it meant the person was a racist. I told him that anybody who believes that obviously is more reactionary than informed. That shut him up. Then I got called a redneck because of another shirt I wore with the flag and roses on it.

Actually, it's
peeps. Hip-hop slang for "people" as in: I'm going to meet up with my peeps later.
No, I'm not into hip-hop--I just heard it once or twice and I just took to it.

Virginia's got more personalized license plates for more different things than anyplace else in the country, I believe. There are plates for every college in the state (and a lot from out-of-state), fraternal organizations, save the environment, the upcoming Jamestown quadricentennial in 2007, you name it, they have a plate for it! Boy it's good to see my home state do the right thing and issue those SCV plates.
Now if we could just get 'em down here in South Carolina and really make the NAACP go nuts!

What next, a license plate for "Sons of the Nazis" with a swastika on it?
Flame away, the South lost.
To: sweetliberty
Hmmm....I got friends in Colorado - they don't understand the South nor the war. They call me hillbilly, I call them granola. The Denver boys always shake their head and say "it's over, you lost, get over it". I tell em, we all lost! They just stare back blankly.
Sadly, most folks get their education from Hollywood movies and the alphabet networks which are both anti-southern, anti-confederate.

Crud. I assume you have to be a Virginian, too? My peeps left the state in the 19th century...I can't lay claim to being a Virginian - I'm a Florida Cracker! My fam is mostly from TN & NC.
To: stainlessbanner
"Now how do we get these plates in Florida?" Half the bumper stickers at any gun show refer in some positive way to the Confederacy.

Now if we could just get 'em down here in South Carolina and really make the NAACP go nuts!We live in KY, go to Cherry Grove (the North end of Myrtle Beach) in May and October. I picked up one of the SC Flag & Confederate Battle Flag plates, have it on the front of my Suburban. From other drivers locally I get many requests for info on where I got that plate. Not the first hostile response so far. Interesting.
SC has many supporters in KY.

Truth doesn't bother me, boy. Apparently it hurts you for any Southerner to start a thread which expresses any sense of honor related to the South or to the Confederacy. Disrutpion of a thread by posting off-subject jibes doesn't amount to "truth".
My people have tombstones in the Southern states dating back to the 18th century and graves in the Southern highlands dating back several millenia before the arrival of my European ancestors. I'm rooted here. You behave as if you have no relatives or history of your own and need to disparage the families of others to make yourself appear as much as an inch tall.
If you ever grow up, you'll be embarassed at what you've posted to people here.

What, no more pics from your communist websites to back up your sorry, socialist indoctrinated views? Post them here and tell us where you found them, boy.

Can we get the plates if we DIDN'T have an ancestor who was a confederate veteran, just so we didn't have one who fought for the North either?

No, you must supply a current membership card from the SCV. Details
here.

Like you I have my own. A Bonnie Blue front plate. Most yahoos think it's for Texas...LOL.I also have a Bonnie Blue plate. Amazing what people think it is, everything from an Admiral's license plate to a scuba diving plate! And this in the south! Sort of points up the gaps in history lessons.
It's the same with the very small picture of Gen. Robert E. Lee on a bumper sticker that says "the country needs a hero." Most people have to ask who he is. Sad. But it's affords an opportunity for some impromptu heritage lessons.
To: stainlessbanner
It's part of our history even if some groups want to force everyone to pretend it isn't.

Isn't it great that the Confederates lost the war so that all Americans still have the liberties that the Confederates were trying to deny to some (eg. the women whom Jefferson Davis threatened to shoot during the Richmond bread riots of 1863)? By that logic, since the Union won the war, peacenik protesters who burn the American flag would now be summarily hanged as Union General Ben Butler summarily hanged New Orleans citizen William Mumford for destroying an American flag.
Confederates weren't saints but neither was the Union.

I have a photo of Patton at VMI in my ofice along with a nice Warhol-like silkscreen of Hank Williams Sr. Many of my renters think Patton is Stonewall Jackson even though ..wrong uniform and no beard. Americans are very uninformed collectively about history. "History" to many doesn't go beyond the advent of MTV.

Hey....I'm a staunch Southern heritage defender but I must confess that your idea of hanging a few WTO/Blackhood flag burners brought a nice grin to my face.

Truth doesn't bother me... Sure it does. You don't want to face the evil side of the Confederates.
Disrutpion [sic] of a thread by posting off-subject jibes doesn't amount to "truth".
I know -- to you the "truth" is only what you want to hear.
You behave as if you have no relatives or history of your own and need to disparage the families of others to make yourself appear as much as an inch tall.
Nonsense, twod. My ancestors fought for liberty for all people during the Great Rebellion and I owe it to them not to let you Confederate glorifiers get away with sweeping the truth about the deeply flawed people you glorify under the carpet.
