A well thought out and reasoned post. I tend to agree with you on just about everything you said. However I do tend to disagree with your statement, "And the issue of a gun is NOT in any way comparable to the issue of drugs." In some ways it is comparable but only on a very high level view.
If the government made owning a private firearm illegal would it be right for a son to turn in his father for having one?
That's the type of thing I'm talking about. I'm not advocating drug use/abuse in any fashion but just because the government says something is wrong doesn't make it so morally.
