"you have read any history you know that the U.S. either put in place or supported with money and guns the very dictators you decry today, including the Taliban"
WRONG! The U.S. didn't put the Taliban into place. The CIA was backing the "Mujahideen" in Afghanistan when the Russians were there. You need to read your history.
Read history? She has laid out her limits: Zinn. Facts and understanding interests and motives of thirdworlders that are hard to pin as responsive to American evils are ignored because they don't help further the project of making and maintaining an anti-American narrative. That' what they live for, that's their political identity, and identity which brings them fellings of superiority and benevolence in one.
Too add, she's one of the number of lefties who respond to criticism as if it were censorship. Susan Sontag started this rant. Partly this arises from the feeling of loss coming from the fact that the current crisis doesn't fit the anti-American narrative well, or at least they can't act as the politically correct filter to hide the facts from their audiences and friends. Mostly it arises from the fact they see speech as a political tool, rather than a right or virtue.
