Christians for Biblical Equality The exegetical evidence is on the side of a plethora of female apostles, elders and deacons in the New Testament. Sadly, the egalitarian ethic of Jesus was replaced by the chauvinism of Hellenistic and Jewish culture in the Church by the 2nd and 3rd Centuries. Junia was an apostle in her own right.
