I also read your post to FallGuy. He worked with Leslie Neilson in "The Naked Gun".
Talking to my son in Kerrville, he says the Guadalupe River has risen about ten feet today.
That means that the people downsteam of the Guadalupe River, like New Braunsfels, will see a wall of water cresting at over ten feet sometime tonight or tomorrow.
The Medina Dam is NOT broken. The water you see on TV coming around the dam is coming over the spillway which was designed to do just that.
The water is about three feet below the Medina Dam. Canyon Lake will see the same wall of water that is currently coming downstream at Kerrville.
He said TexanaRed's house was probably on one of the creeks which runs into the Guadalupe River, and her's was not the only house washed away.
On a side note, while working today he witnessed the Red Cross giving out hot coffee while one of the local churches in conjunction with Wal-Mart were feeding people with fried chicken.
The Red Cross does have emergency shelters set up, but I guess it's too much trouble to try to feed the people who are trying to save their possessions.
Heck, they can survive on coffee!
Didn't some other bureaucrat once say, "Let 'em eat cake?"
