One of my daughter's friends plays the harp. She's 19 now and has played since she was five.

It's huge, bulky, and very heavy. You can't just put it in the trunk of a car. Her mom always had to drive a mini-van and put the far back seat down in order to transport it.

well, if Ricci did not do this, and it is someone who supposedly "cared" for Lizzie, then taking the harp along would mean he really did care for her...it would be a good sign..imo

it also would mean definatly a second perp...

ED S did say he left the garage door open for a couple of hours...and i think someone here surmised that he took it to the basement...soooooooo...would the door from the garage going into the house have steps right down to the basement? ...I know someone has a house plan...maybe they could tell us

Anythings possible but usually it's not that complicated. I don't think he would have admitted to robberies and talked to the police without a lawyer if he were guiltless in the kidnapping. I also think police would know by now if he weren't involved and they wouldn't be incriminating him like they are.

On Friday, an assistant Salt Lake County district attorney, Kent Morgan, said burglary charges against Ricci still are under consideration.

But sources tell 2-News that charges may be more than just under consideration.

Sources say "burglary charges and more" against Ricci could come as soon as next week.

The source said "It's a whole new ball game"

It's unclear what the burglary charge would involve. Ricci is suspected of taking things from the Smart home. But it's unclear of any charge would relate directly to the night Elizabeth Smart was taken from her home.

Ricci is being held at the Utah State Prison for parole violations including drug use and burglary. Where or when the burglary took place was not specified in his arrest warrant.

usually a person's crimes are listed worse to "less worse" so thinking that the burglary is the biggie...what would the "more" be?

trespassing?

fencing stolen items?

firearm violation while on parole?

I mean , a person doesn't say ,well he is being arrested for jay walking, red light running, late vehicle tabs....and I almost forgot, murder and kidnapping

Elizabeth disappeared on the 5th, (night of the 4th, morning of the 5th).

Ricci worked at 10:30 a.m. on the 5th, later than usual and then worked until 7:30 or so?

Here's info from another article I think shows the case is about to be blown wide open. I think this is the last character and they've quietly brought him in:

Meantime, a man has been identified who helped tow Richard Ricci's white jeep to a West Valley auto repair shop. 2-news has been told the man hired Ricci for building or renovating homes.

Detectives may be looking for him now. Police are very interested in tracking the whereabouts of Ricci’s Cherokee which was given to him by Elizabeth’s father, Ed Smart, for work at his home.

Police said the Cherokee was put in the shop at the end of May. A man reportedly help tow the Jeep to the shop at that time. The Cherokee reportedly was later removed and then returned three days after the Smart abduction. A mechanic said the jeep was brought back caked with mud and with about a thousand additional miles on the odometer.

The mechanic said he saw Ricci walk across the street and meet another man. The mechanic did not get a good look at the second man. Police want to know if it is the same man who helped Ricci tow the truck to the shop the first time in late May.

Police still have not named Ricci as a suspect, and his wife insists Ricci was at home the night Smart was kidnapped. Ricci’s wife has already testified before a federal grand jury looking into the Smart abduction.

In all police are now questioning four ex-convicts in the case and a fifth man who may have been with Ricci when he returned the SUV to the repair shop.

That was my original understanding. So it sounds like the police believe he had guests the evening of the 4th and was home the morning of the 5th until he went to work at 10:30. That leaves the 6th & 7th unaccounted for unless somebody has read that he worked those days.

I haven't heard his employer say he was off at all except for the 5th.

I want resolution is this case as much as anybody...but if you have had any contact with alcoholics or drug abusers you would know how incredibly hard it would be to get 4 or 5 of them...perhaps also including the beautiful Angela...to agree on anything and to actually have a cohesive plan

No, it was the 5th he had off. He went to work late on the 6th and was interviewed by the police on the 6th for the first time, maybe the reason he was late to work. I have read nothing else about his activities on the 6th and nothing thereafter other than returning the Jeep on Jun 8 until he was pulled in by the cops quite a while later, either the 14th or the 22nd I think.

I think these outfits were hired by someone they heard about who wanted Elizabeth, like people from South American that kidnap American children and have a preference for blonds. I think they were offered a whole lot of money so they made it happen even though they didn't quite have it all figured out.

One theory I have is they kidnapped her for South Americans. South Americans do have American girls kidnapped and almost always blonds.

It has been suggested that he was engaged in some other criminal activity not related to Liz's abduction. And was just incredibly unlucky about the timing!
Not only unlucky about the timing but incredibly stupid in judgement if ES was kidnapped on Jun 5, he was interviewed by police as he expected on Jun 6, then he went ahead and participated in a separate illegal act with the Jeep and returned it to the repair shop caked in mud & pine needles, windshield caked in bugs, covered with mud himself, wearing a machette at his waist, and took out and carried off the rear seat covers and a muddy fence post digger.
