LOS ANGELES -- Ten years after playing the saxophone on MTV in a defining moment of his 1992 campaign for president, Bill Clinton is returning to the cable music channel to discuss the global AIDS epidemic.
Clinton will be one of several panelists taking questions from an audience of young adults from more than 25 countries during an hour-long program to be taped July 11 in Barcelona, Spain, the network, a unit of Viacom Inc., said on Wednesday.
The MTV special, titled Staying Alive: A Global Forum on HIV/AIDS, will be telecast starting July 12 on more than 30 MTV channels around the world.
The program will be moderated by MTV India host Cyrus Broacha. MTV programming currently reaches 382 million households in 165 countries.
The special is part of a new youth-oriented AIDS awareness campaign MTV is launching in conjunction with the Kaiser Family Foundation and Family Health International.
According to a United Nations report released this week, more than half of young people aged 15 to 24 have serious misconceptions about AIDS and the HIV virus, the same age group that accounts for half of all new HIV infections today.
Joining Clinton on the panel will be Peter Piot, head of the Joint UN Program on HIV/AIDS, Brazilian Health Ministry official Paulo Roberto Teixeira and Vicki Ehrich of British pharmaceutical giant GlaxoSmithKline Plc.
The former president is an honorary co-chairman of the International AIDS Trust foundation, MTV spokeswoman AnneMarie Kane said.
Clinton first made a splash on MTV during his initial bid for the White House in 1992, appearing on a town hall-style special in which he played his saxophone and gamely answered questions about what sort of underwear he wore. He later credited the MTV appearance with helping energize young people about politics and went on to unseat Republican incumbent President George Bush in the general election. -- Reuters

Why don't you do the nation a favor and commit suicide?
Or, better yet, make it a double. Unfortunately, many New Yarkanciders would be very unhappy.

Hmmm, I'm glad I got my question in yesterday (which probably is why they're no longer accepting questions!)

Try asking if Mumps is protective against infection....he thought that others might be reassured in other concerns by his history with that illness.

Since that man accepts no responsibility for any of his actions, we'll never get the answer to those EXCELLENT questions! I can't forgive him how he disgraced the Oval Office, but I could do that quicker than forgive him for all the people he indirectly killed with AIDS and Hepatitis.

Isn't it amazing that a man responsible (indirectly, anyway) for giving untold numbers of people AIDS is an honorary chair of the AIDS trust? I wonder if that's a paid position.

my question for bill clinton is a simple one mr. clinton will you ever GO THE F**K AWAY
To: mountaineer
Isn't it amazing that a man responsible (indirectly, anyway) for giving untold numbers of people AIDS That is a pretty over the top slap. Isn't there enough goods on Clinton to satiate you without going into the ozone?

1.) What qualifies you as an expert in the field of AIDS? Where did you go to medical school? Oh? You didn't? What about graduate school? Oxford? Oh, cool. What major? Law? OK. Whats your undergrad degree in? (Bet it isnt the hard sciences....)
2.) How in the heck did you manage to avoid getting AIDS, given your promiscious lifestyle?

What's over the top? Are you not familiar with the tainted blood scandal, where AIDS-infected blood from Arkansas prisoners was sent to Canada? Even Clinton mouthpiece
Salon reported on it -
twice.
At least 42,000 Canadians have been infected with hepatitis C, and thousands more with the HIV virus, thanks to poorly screened plasma. Some of it has been traced back to the Cummins prison in Arkansas. More than 7,000 Canadians are expected to die as a result of the blood scandal.
These articles - and many others posted at FR - describe Clinton's connection to the scheme.

OK, that was when Clinton was goveror. And his responsibility for this happening was ..... ?

Well, a simple Google search of "Clinton tainted blood scandal" will turn up several dozen, if not hundreds of stories explaining the link between Clinton and the company responsible for knowingly sending tainted blood to Canada. As noted, even Salon acknowledged the connection, had you read both articles in their entirety. If you're not going to read these and other articles, then there's no point in directing you to them, but here's
one; here's
another; here's yet
another; are you tired yet? If not, you might want to check out the
book written on the subject, "Blood Trail."

OK, I admit I am not familiar with this issue. From reading The Band Played On, which would make a fantastic novel, but is even more transfixing since it is non fiction, I am familiar with tainted blood scandals. But the late 1980's is rather late for this to be occuring. In any event, I will cease and desist unless and until I learn more.

I wouldn't have made up such an allegation, irrespective of my lack of respect for Mr. Clinton. Where he is concerned, the truth is disgusting enough.

Torie, I know this story is hard to believe. It is hard to believe that any human being could have done the things that Clinton did. I hope you read those articles about it and let other people know what you learn. You see, that's the problem ... people just don't know about this. And when they do hear about it, it's so fantastic that they think it's just another extreme right-wing "conspiracy" story made up by some idiot. But it isn't. It's the truth and fully documented. An easy way to learn more about it is to do a search on Askel5's name. She has spent many an hour gathering up information and has provided us with many links in her posts.
Mountaineer, Christians have often wondered how the world could be tricked into such adoration of the antichrist. In my opinion, Clinton is a perfect example of how an evil person can fool so many people.

Good questions. He's still out there trying to find some sort of legacy, he's lost the Middle East peace and great economy of the 90's.

I read your profile page. I realize that you CANNOT accept anything at face value and require proof at the hand of the messenger. However, I am really surprised that an intelligent person like you would make the comments you did without having read the background on this issue first.
It isn't really necessary to be credentialed to pass along the truth, as long as it can be backed up with sources. It goes without saying, though, that the sources must be cited - there is too much information to be reproduced in the limited space of a FR thread.
And, admittedly, most people who read these "Bloodtrail" threads have been following it all along. Without foreknowledge of this horrible situation, it is understandable that a person new to the issue would be taken askance.
Your screen name was a good choice. It is a good indication that you are prepared to accept the truth about Clinton.
The Epistle of Jude
Jude 24-25
In the course of his short epistle, Jude has had to write some necessary, and to some degree, unpleasant things...
a. A plea to contend earnestly for the faith
b. A warning about ungodly men who have crept in unnoticed
c. A reminder of God's righteous judgment in times past
d. A description of the depravity of these ungodly men
e. Exhortations to us

Oops ... I read your comment without comprehension. I thought you were asking those questions of the poster. They were directed at Clinton! That makes more sense, coming from YOU! Sorry for my goof. But maybe somebody else will read my comment and benefit from it.
Good luck in your studies. It sounds like you have a great future.
