My husband woke me at 4 this morning and said one of the houses across the street was on fire. I jumped up and went to the front door and the house on the corner had been struck by lightning and was in total flames. It was a total loss. There were 2 fire trucks and all the neighbors gathered in the street and it was pouring down rain and thundering and lightning. It was like a nightmare. The flames were shooting real high and they had water going on it from 2 sides and it was raining like crazy and it still burned up. Just the brick siding around the bottom part of the house and the brick frame to the front porch and a few charred side timbers. But the family got out safely. I saw the insurance guy taking pictures about 10 this morning.

Wow. I feel awful for the people who lost their home but I'm glad it wasn't your home.

Holy Cow! Talk about about bad luck. I'm so glad the family is safe, but can't imagine what a low blow this is to them.
