Kind of goes along with fingernail clippers at the airport. You're right, it is scary to think we can be scrutinized for the possession of whatever any given investigator (or security agent or amateur dog handler) thinks may be incriminating. It's even scarier to note that we've lost enough of our freedoms that something like this can even be possible.
Hate crime police, thought police, bleach police, smoking police, SUV police, logging police...and now burgers and french fries police? I want my country back!!
