"Mr. Westerfield's attorney has now managed to drag the son down to the sewer level with his dad. Are we to believe he has been downloading, catagorizing the porn and transferring it to cd's with file labels identical to his dad's, since he was 14 or 15, no less? "

While it's not suprising to know that teens go to porn websites...I'd like to hear feldman explain how the son figured out how to contact child porn dealers. I heard some nitwit on ctv say that someone could easily find child porn by linking to it from an adult porn website.. LOL I was thinking...this guy has no clue about child porn laws...and how hard it is to buy child porn. I would be so bold to say that there are few if any child porn websites out there. Of course, maybe the son figured out how to connect with those alt: groups the FBI raided.

Kimmie - I'll bet you could find kiddie porn by signing on to Kazaa, (or its late predecessor, Napster).

I have searched for stuff on "The Simpsons" on Kazaa, and have had all sorts of interesting files come up - including porn versions of The Simpsons, one of which that claims to have Bart "pimping out" Lisa. Lotsa "teen" stuff, too.

You know, I'll go pretty far to look up stuff, but I absolutely refuse to run a search on KaZaa specifically for kiddie porn. But I'm willing to bet, that if I did and worded my search "creatively", I could find some.

We're not in Kansas anymore, Toto - and the Internet never was. I do believe I read recently (maybe here on FReep) that the thing that advanced the Internet so quickly in the early 90s was the trading of porn.

They were out there before the FBI busted them. You think that's the only one? Sheesh, it's the FBI.

Be as bold as you like. And you are completely wrong.

WARNING TO OTHERS ! I'll get a bit technical below but I'll fight to keep it simple. I've tried to avoid any real computer technical discussion on these threads. I can't avoid it any longer in this case. My apologies to others in advance for the boredom I am about to induce.
There are moveable or DYNAMIC websites. In short, people who run their website from a DYNAMIC IP address rather than a STATIC IP address.

In your web browser type in http://209.157.64.200 and whack your {Enter] key.

209.157.64.200 is freerepublic.com and always will be until JimRob or someone on his behalf or his ISP changes it.
FreeRepublic.com ALWAYS has that same dotted quad IP address, its a static IP. MOST computers (which happen to be home computers) connecting to the Internet have dynamic IP addresses assigned to them by their ISPs. Just about any fool can put up a dynamic website with pornography (or anything else for that matter) on it (presuming you know what software to use and how to set it up) and all that fool has to do is advertise to others where to visit.

So if a fool wanted to set up a dynamic pornography image SWAP website, its pretty straight forward.
So, to use your example, the fool would simply flood USENET Newsgroups and other places with the IP de jour of his or her child pornography website because their pornography swap site will be available under that IP adderss for several days or weeks until their ISP's dhcpd host (the special daemon process that assigns the IP address in the first place) says "Hey the lease time on that host IP is up !" and reassigns a different dynamic IP.

(I really don't want to explain things in any more detail than I have above. If thread readers want to read more about these things, there are a myriad and plethora of libraries of introductory information online where you can read the basics that I've simply glossed over above. Like I said, I own an automobile and I know how to change the spark plugs but I am not an automechanic. Sometimes a little knowledge is dangerous.)

So, inspite of your pronouncement above;
There is tons of child pornography online at any one time.

Other readily available sources of pornography are also only a few keystrokes away. Do a search of kiddie porn or child porn or just plain porn on yahoo.com or google. Or better, connect to your own ISP's news servers. Or to public news servers that are available online. This has been discussed at length before. Spend a few hours (I strongly recommend you keep a large plastic bucket handy to puke into) in the USENET newsgroups like
alt.binaries.pictures.erotica.schoolgirls or
alt.binaries.multimedia.erotica.amateur or
any of the other hundreds of USENET news groups from all over the world that have pornography images available to freely download. In any one of those hundreds of pornography image and digital movie newsgroups there are MANY child porn images. People hack news servers and other machines on the internet to traffic, post and download this sort of filth. USENET News is only ONE of the ways of archiving, swapping or transmitting images. There are many other methods.

Its a BIG WORLD out there. The internet is MORE than just webpages. And at the same time, some websites are archives that don't resemble what you'd think is a website when in fact they are storage repositories for filth.
Go onto IRC and get randomly spammed to visit poronography sites by broadcasted messages from strangers.

The market for filth is massive. You're in denial or terribly naive to suggest otherwise. Knowing how unhealthy and addictive it is, is the best way to not get swept up in it. Your statement above is plain wrong.
