Michael New was a highly decorated combat medic in Desert Storm ... repeatedly honored as his Battalion's 'Soldier of the Month'. He was looked up to and admired by all the men who served with him in his unit. His service record reflects nothing but a brave and conscientous soldier.

I hate to correct a fellow Virginian. But you are wrong to call Michael New a traitor. Would Washington, Jefferson, and Henry serve under a foreign flag (UN) wear a foreign uniform (UN) ? I say NO!

If we learned anything from the Vietnam war, it is that obeying unlawful orders from superiors, will not excuse soldiers for committing unlawful acts. Our Government has no right to put our troops into the position of damned if they do-damned if they don't.

I am sure that many of the older folks on here were told as was I: Obey orders first and ask questions later. That worked just fine until cowards began giving the orders, and sacrificing their obedient troops to save their own @$$e$, when things went wrong.

I am as aware as anyone else,that instant and unquestioning obedience to orders in combat situations, is essential to victory as well as the safety and well being of the Military unit. It is even more essential that those who issue the orders, not be allowed to save their own butts by sacrificing those who are merely obeying orders.

in the begining i sent mr. new a donation for his defense because i thought he was right to stand up for what he beleives in . but then i was getting a letter every couble of weeks requesting more funds then when i stopped sending donations his group sold the donation list to other groups so after awhile i was swamped with requests from others. It seems to me instead of a defense fund now it has become a money making business my message to mr. new move on get a life

Been reading all the replies in favor of New and have come to the conclusion that you have absolutely no idea what you are talking about and are simply reveling in the attention you are receiving here!
