LOS ANGELES (AP) - A phone threat warning that a plane would strike the city's second-tallest skyscraper prompted a voluntary evacuation that included employees of a company that lost workers in the Sept. 11 attacks.

The call was traced by the FBI and Monday's threat was found to be without merit, said FBI spokeswoman Laura Bosley. Bosley declined to disclose the caller's name.

Scary stuff. When I drive through downtown lately, I always look up at the tall buildings and wonder what if? Why do a few a**holes have to ruin things for everyone?

I seriously think we are no where near the point where the flagrant idiots who mouth jokes about 'Bush knowing' (and intending) appreciate the seriousness of the threat the country is facing. These wayward people must think terror is just a choice to fight against as well as they thought the Vietnam war, mismanaged as it was, was optional. So the needless banter in the media and leftist editorial opinion continues. The 5th column is not gone like the Ameican Bund disapeared in the mid 40's after being exposed.

No, we are still surrounded by fools who jeapardize our lives. I wish Bush would not find the need to cater to their wasted votes.

Besides Diotima, I had a meeting with someone who moved into an office there after 9-11. The sense of the vulnerability is palpable. Too bad the LA Times doesn't work there.

Were you a boy scout?

Of course! And 22 years of active duty taught me preparedness, too. It's simply a mind set--keep aware, look around, be ready--in public and at home.

We can use more preparedness. I always liked the motto.

Scaring people???? If they warn they scare people. If they don't warn they are negligent. Make up your minds...they are not mind readers for goodness sake. I would rather have the warning and do with it what I think is best for me and my family. when it comes right down to it if something does happen...you are gonna have to take control and do for yourself anyway. What in the world do people want anymore? There are no guarantees. yes, they can strike at anytime and anyplace. However, we are issued warnings when intelligence gets informatin and they pass the warning on to us. What in the world do we want after that? People are gonna have to depend on themselves and then help others around them. That's the bottom line and everyone better darn well get used to it.

Right after Sept. 11th our buldings and tons of tall buildings in New York got a bomb scare almost every days. I can't tell you how many times we had to evacuate the building (sometimes in the pouring rain) and go down 50 flights of stairs because some idiot threatened a high building for fun and games. We go so sick of it that after a while the FBI just passed out flyers telling us to learn as much as we can from the caller (what he said, background noises, voice etc.) instead of running out of the bulding. Basically they were telling us to stop running scared. We still get bomb threats but not as often as every other day like we did on 9/11. Maybe being in New York you become so used to it you become dulled by all threats after a while.

I've come to believe since September 11th that the government is damned if they do and damned if they don't. If they tell us about a "threat", whether it's "credible" or "a general threat", then everyone jumps on the bandwagon that "it's stupid, everytime they tell us something we're suppossed to run and hide..and pretty soon no one will take them seriously." Well you know what? I am sick and tired of it. We saw what happened when the "MEMO" came out, and how the presstitutes tried to pin the blame on President Bush and the FBI and the CIA, when, in fact, Bill Clinton HAD the opportunity AND the man handed to him on a silver platter and DID NOTHING. That cost us 3,000+ lives. What did Cynthina McKinney say about that? NOTHING.

I'd rather be warned than not, whether it's real or not, as I am an adult and I can decide for myself whether I need to take action or not. I don't need a bunch of nannies in Congress telling me what I do/don't need to know.

Right - time to act as adults. That's why I posted all this and the follow-ups -- we are being treated like children by the neglect of this info by the media.

Just think, we almost have let the bioterror fear cause a mass inoculation of Bioport's trashy vaccine. Jsut imagine if some other Islamists were in charge of vaccines. Its dangerous being a child under the circumstances.
