"We would also like to replicate our findings with different ethnic populations and more people," he added.I'll be right over.

I'll bite. My uncle was a pot-head in the eighties and half the nineties. He's now certifiable... Keeps telling us the government planted chips in his foot, and that evil men dressed in all black are out to get him because he knows...

This is certainly true. There are some people who should never indulge. I well remember the case of my best college friend's brother, who smoked for about six months and then went off the deep end. He seemed pretty normal up until then, but there are subtle signs of a pre-schizophrenic personality.
It's hard to predict. I would say, when in doubt, don't. But these guys never listen to me...

IIRC, this is NOT the first evidence that genetic damage resulted from pot use.
But this couldn't be, though. It would defeat the entire raison d'etre of SO MANY of our fine Libertine friends!

tale to which you refer was just that.

Many drugs can induce illnesses such as schizophrenia, bipolar disorder to manifest themselves.

IIRC, this is NOT the first evidence that genetic damage resulted from pot use. Yikes! How much do you have to smoke?
Come to think of it, smoking pot does make me tend to forget things. What were we talking about again?
Paranoia will destroy ya.

Just because you're paranoid doesn't mean they're NOT out to get you...

It seems like a pretty small sample size to be jumping to such large conclusions.
There would have to be a pretty large range between the test and the control to make such assumptions. I wouldn't bet the farm on 100 samples of anything.

"There are some people who should never indulge. "
Based on my own experience, that's everyone. I was one of the first in my highschool to try it & the first to stop. After the first few experiences, which were very pleasant, being stoned turned into horrific, paranoid self-persecution. I recall being extremely sensitive to people's moods, also frightening.
Anybody have a similar experience? The paranoia I experienced then makes me wonder if these researchers aren't onto something.
Someone told me the stuff kids now smoke is 10 times the potency of what we were on. Scary.

The size of a single sample, or the number of multiple samples, does not have to be big!
I'd bet the farm on 20 samples - and under some circumstances, on as few as 6 samples.
It's a trick played by statisticians to prove all sorts of stuff and to supplement their meager incomes.

Anybody have a similar experience? I thought that the paranoia sometimes experienced, while under the influence, was a temporary effect of the drug.
If you gave me a research grant, I could tell you that pot makes you paranoid. That's not a secret.
The question is whether or not the effect is permanent.
If smoking pot makes you permanently paranoid, I make have a problem :-)
