When I was about five years old, I asked my mother if she was scared when as a little girl, the Indians surrounded her covered wagon.
She didn't let me forget that for years.
For some reason I have flashbacks to that while I'm on one of these threads.
Oh, FWIW, my mother is 62 now. That would have been in about 1963. I figured she was reeeeeealy old. I now know how she felt.

I know how your mother felt, too. I was terrified as a child when the Indians surrounded our covered wagon. And later when the Yankees came and burned us out, left us with nothing to eat, and raised our taxes sky high. And the San Francicso earthquake, and the great influenza epidemic of the early 1900s. And then there were the black church burnings....
