"Rush Limbaugh got rich and famous long before Clinton came along."

Your response:
Baloney. Rush was an unknown prior to Clinton's election outside of a few AM talk stations in the 80's.

Boy are YOU ever wrong!

I'm listening to a TAPE I made from a Rush show back on July 31st 1991 - and HE'S talking about animal right's whacko's, he's got subject material on the NAALCP's take on things - AND NO MENTION OF CLINTON!

BTW - I am NOT in the NE or out on the LEFT coast. I'm here in the heartland of America.

Just thought you would like to know ...

Good to know that you can still be quick on the trigger when you have to be.

Fadinig/foggy memory Texasforever: "His entire national reputation was built on the Clinton years."

How WRONG you are ... The KENNEDYS - Remember the lambasting he did on the Kennedys with his updates?

How quickly some people's memories FADE!

I'm listening to a Holly Dunn/feminist update theme now from July 31st 1991 NOW!

Just coming up - a PeeWee Herman Update!

Built his rep on Clinton ... indeed!! Ha!

"His "growth started when he started trashing Bush the 1st and his support of PJB in the 92 primaries,"

YOU DON"T REMEMBER.

Period.

The TAPES I've got DON'T LIE!

He is VERY entertaing REGARDLESS of party in power.

"Nice try but no cigar. Rush was NOT anything special until Bill Clinton came on the scene."

By now I see you are completely discredited.

Good bye.

I am reading your posts I don't need to read the same thing in e-mail. Yes Rush was backing PJB and trashing Bush until PJB lost the nomination. I remember it very well. Yes Rush is an entertainer that can only ply his trade if there is an audience large and angry enough to sustain his show. He cares little who the anger is directed at.

"Prior to that he was trashing Bush"

Unsupportable.

That's an impression you've developed LATER in time here ...

Rush was covering a VAST arraay of subjects - it's one note sombas (SP?) like yourself whose MEMORY of those days has changed ...

" You can find no record of Rush as a national figure, even on his own websites or the spin-offs prior to nomination of Bill Clinton and the outrage of the conservative movement that found a voice with him. "

You are SO DAMN WRONG.

Rush was a FANTASTIC breath of FRESH AIR.

He ***was*** THE voice of conservatism!!!!

I'll bet YOU CAN'T remember the first time you HEARD HIM - he was UNLIKE anything you had HEARD BEFORE!

Remember?

(It seem your brain has rotted out or something. You and quidnunc!)

He's claiming to be "... still the best talk show host in the world.." on a lead in from a bump on this July 31st 1991 tape.

NOW he's talking about the book by George Guilder with a caller!

Jim either you are just yanking my chain or you are seriously unglued tonight. I have asked you 3 times to just post to the thread. These duplicate e-mails are getting damned annoying.

I'm shakin' my head over how such an irrelevant figure could draw a thread with over 1K posts. We really must learn to stop responding to these posts from JW's PR guy.

IIRC, Rush's popularity really picked up during the Gulf War.

But I don't see what it has to do with this thread.

She said she didn't want it to be reversed because she knew there had to be a change of hearts and minds first and a great debate first. You have totally misrepresented, not only, her words, but her meaning to launch a cheap attack. And it wasn't "a couple of months ago". I suggest you find the transcript and refresh your memory. Be sure to read her entire statement.

Here's the transcript, and Laura doesn't say anything about "a change of hearts and minds" or a "great debate first." If she had, her interview wouldn't have been the huge affront to pro-lifers that it was:

Although I've posted all of her comments regarding abortion from that interview, you can read the rest of it HERE if you wish. It's on page 10 of 17.

BTW, most folks do have the impression that Laura's "pro-choice." For instance, even NARAL (National Abortion Rights Action League) thinks she's on their side. Suggestion #62 in "100 Ways to Fight for Choice" is: "Laura Bush has said that Roe v. Wade 'should not be overturned.' Thank her for speaking out," complete with an email link.

You can also go to the Fight4Choice site and read their many thank you Letters to Laura.

Ms. Bush: No, I don't think it should be overturned.

Anyone that made a statement like that cannot be pro-life. That's too bad.

BTW, you really have to laugh at this, after all, we didn't need to have a "change of heart and mind" to get Roe v. Wade or a "great debate" did we? Nope, it just came through the courts and we had to swallow it.
