Actually, this has nothing to do with their religion. I was just thinking about how, despite a thousand years of Islam, the traditions of caste in that part of the world have not died at all.
This is something you would see in rural India as well as Pakistan.

This is a form of justice and so it is abhorrent. It is an organised and legalistic form of barbarity. The fact that some hillbilly's or rednecks choose to drag a man behind a truck for example does not condemn Christendom, but rather the individual animals. Given that Islam has as Lewis puts it, "the inequities" it is clear that justice can be dispensed on that basis. I am not judging mind you. But ruminating.

This is something you would see in rural India as well as Pakistan.I'm afraid that's correct. The public humiliation -- ordered to return home naked before 1,000 onlookers -- is depressingly familiar from Indian accounts.
