That's strange and unfortunate coming from a country whose people might now be speaking Japanese if not for Americans. Nothing could have stopped the Japanese from invading Australia during WWII, and the Aussies at that time were grateful to MacArthur. Times change.

I believe most of the people of the world have a very poor grasp of history. And from what I've been reading of Oz news articles, leftism seems to have badly infected that country as well as ours. Not enough Gerry Jacksons of The New Australian down under apparently.

I think you hit the nail on the head when you mentioned the left leaning newspapers. A lot of the backpackers, or "world Travelers" as they now like to be called, areAmnisty International want to be's are into the hate America thing like the Europeans. It is the in your face bit that gets me. I am sure there are Thais that don't like us but they are generally more easy going and certainly more polite.
