It occurs to me that Gore is setting himself up for a "see I told you so" in the event of another terrorist attack, or a serious deterioration in Afghanistan or elsewhere in the mideast. A desperate move, but Gore's options are limited at this point. Long shots like this are all he has.

Gore's stupid comments were not for the American people, they were for the stupid leftists he has to court to get renominated. It's a risk he has to take... courting the left without alienating the great cross section of the American public.

As for Powell's comments, fine except for the "with all due respect" part. Utterly no respect is due for Gore.

Desperation is all ANY of these guys have, which is a good news, bad news situation for the guys wearing the white hats.
