Some people may consider today to actually be day 26, but I count 1 day for each
24 hours that have passed since Elizabeth was kidnapped. Elizabeth was taken from her home
at about 1:30am on the morning of June 5th, 2002.

Short Timeline

May 30th, 2002 -Thursday
~ Ricci returns to pick up his Jeep at the auto repair shop before the shop has a chance to fully fix it
He tells the repairman that it needed for an emergency.

June 4th, 2002 - Tuesday
~ Ricci is at work from about 9am to 5:30pm
~ Ricci claims he spends the evening with friends

June 5th, 2002 - Wednesday
~ 1:05am - 2 cars are spotted on the SLC Shriner's Hospital Parking Lot by a hospital security guard
~ 1:30am (approx) - Elizabeth is kidnapped from her home
~ 1:30am - Ricci claims to be in bed asleep with his with wife.
~ Ricci is scheduled to be off work all day today.
~ 8:30am - Ricci and his neighbor talk about the kidnapping of Elizabeth, Ricci seems to know too much information about it.
~ Sometime during this day Ricci is visited by police in regards to Elizabeth's kidnapping as reported by Angela Ricci (Richard A. Ricci's Wife which is an ex-convict herself)
~ Ricci is seen by his neighbor digging a hole by his (Ricci's) trailer early in the morning. (heard the neighbor say this on TV)

June 6th, 2002 - Thursday
~ Ricci is scheduled to work from 9am to 5:30pm today, but instead works from 10:30am to 7:00pm
~ Police talk to Ricci this day about the Elizabeth Smart kidnapping. (The media is reporting this, so it could be wrong)

June 8th, 2002 - Saturday
~ Ricci returns the Jeep to the repair shop to get it fix. The Jeep is muddy and the repair shop owner sees Ricci
remove seat covers from the back of the jeep and place them into a plastic garbage bag that already contains
other stuff in it. Also the repair shop owner said a muddy post hole digger tool was in the back of the Jeep, Ricci removes
this also from the Jeep. Ricci has a man waiting across the street to give him a ride. Ricci takes the plastic bag
and contents along with the post hole digger with him. Also there is 500 to 1000 extra miles on the Jeep since
Ricci picked it up on May 30th, 2002.

June 14th, 2002 - Friday
~ Ricci is taken into custody for a parole violation, this being the 2001 robbery of the Smart Home in which he admitted to.



A note to the people who read this thread because they hope and pray that Elizabeth will be returned to her family and who wish to stay up to date with the facts in the case. Please do not let yourself get sucked into a heavy HEATED discussion or argument from someone who wishes to come on this thread and make posts that will disrupt this thread. The best thing to do it not to bring attention to these post or reply to them.

I thought for sure they said blood. Just a bit ago. Can't remember the reporter's name. Carol McKinley, I think. She was speaking LIVE. The 6/8 males are neighbor men that were in the home that morning.

Hmmm maybe the cops are screw ups and this will turn out to be another JonBenet Ramsey unsolved case. The cops may have allowed evidence to be contaminated all over the place where it will be impossible to convict anyone and missed opportunities possibly to intercept an alive Elizabeth, or intercept evidence being dumped by simply putting their top suspects under survelliance in the early days after.

We probably won't find out about these things until the police are put under scrutiny at a much later date and maybe even years later.

Makes you wonder if the home is really where they are getting the dna for matching. sounds like the kidnap itself was without violence; only the screen or cutting tool would have sharp edges. i keep thinking back to what others have noted from the first of the investigaton when slcpd said that someone in a position of trust was involvedm, hence the neighbors, friends, etc. like you , i can't figure out the strategic advantage of doing this now, unless new evidence demands it.

She suckered me too. I thought she was a pretty decent person and even said at the time I saw her as another victim. Then I learned she also was a convicted felon for drug dealing and 10 counts of forgery.

Oh really? I have only read the tail end of this thread and had not heard this about Ricci's wife yet. You know the saying, birds of a feather flock together.I think everything she says should be taken with a grain of salt.

Well whoever its too late now, it will be too hard to prove the scene wasn't contaminated or even find anything before prints were smudged and things were touched IMO.

After spending the last two hours catching up...

about the doctor who heard the screaming tires and the later the female screaming...

he said it was 2:30 when he heard the tires, and a while after that when he heard the female screaming...remember, the mom screamed after she woke up the son and then saw the screen cut...

..if they were neighbors, and windows open, I would think it was the mom he heard..

I believe that when the police spoke early on that the perp may have been someone that Elizabeth would have trusted that they could have been thinking about Ricci. He was interviewed by SLPD within 12 hours of the kidnapping. The Smarts had no idea of his criminal background until informed after the abduction. Ricci told his neighbor that Elizabeth used to help him with his work assignments at the Smart home. When awoken, Elizabeth may not have felt threatened by Ricci. Of course the police would have been onto Ricci's record immediatly. So when the police said that it may have been someone trusted by Elizabeth they may have already been looking at Ricci. Just a thought.

It sounds like incompetence not to get back to the neighbors that heard noises in the night.

The cops took the call, sent an officer AND took the report. Best case this helps establish the time of the incident at least as the people remember it. They certainly don't have anything definitive i.e. license number or even a good description of the car. If they did, it would be reported.

Now why do the cops need to re-interview these folks, other than to satisfy your curiosity? What are they going to say? We actually didn't tell you the whole story the first time?

The Fox reporter just said they found male DNA that doesn't match anyone living in the home. I think? I'm pretty sure.

You are assuming it wasn't, which in all likelyhood is not a valid assumption.

would hope dna on the screen would have been found earlier than now, and all those with potential contact would have been cleared at that time.
you're right, the screen is a strange piece. perhaps they have recently recovered a potential cutting instrument with unknown prints/dna
