About an hour ago, I turned on FOX, and they were interviewing a former Detective from Washington D.C. by the name of Trevor Hewitt. Here are some highlights as to what he said. (I was unable to take notes)

1. "THEY BUNGLED" ..talking about the work of the SLCPD. He said if they "had anything" she would have been found by now..AND..an arrest WOULD HAVE been made. He went on to talk about the shoddy work they have done that is visible to him and public on t.v.

2. TOO MUCH TIME HAS GONE BY...THEY WILL FIND HER...SHE WILL BE DEAD......He stated statistics after a 48 hr. period..downhill from there, and now we are entering the 4th week.

3. IT IS EASY TO MAKE AN ARREST...He said that any arrest is easy. Find a perp in the area wanted for a violation. "feed the press with hype on him, and slowly you convince the people you have your man."

4. THEY WILL...MAKE IT FIT. He was talking about HAVING to make it look like Recci did it. (this is what he said on t.v. NOT ME SAYING THIS )..AND..gathering false evidence TO MAKE IT FIT....so as to not have bungled the job. He said that the guy who would be sent to jail for something they did not do...WOULD GET HIS SENTENCE IN PRISON BY THE MEN IN PRISON.

The Anchor had a scared look on her face, listening to the boldness of this veteran Dective, to say the least. I wish I could pull a transcript from FOX on it. I believe I am going to have to go buy a POCKET PROTECTOR and carry pad and pen with me, so I can get word by word on these interviews ! In a nut shell, he sounded like he was disgusted with the police. He had almost stated he found it hard to believe that Recci could have done it, much less the time table, and incinuated that the police as last resort, and lateness of the hour would purposely arrest the wrong man.

I am not saying Iagree with this...just reporting what he said. But I wlll repeat...THERE IS SOMETHING VERY VERY WRONG WITH THIS STORY FOR 4 WEEKS !! THERE IS SOMETHING BEING HIDDEN..AND I BELIEVE THE FAMILY KNOWS WHAT IT IS. * oh boy, now I am in for it *

I pray with all of you that little Elizabeth is alive. I also pray that what is hidden is revealed...and out of the darkness, light will shine. soon.

Yes there is. She is still missing and no one knows where she is.

I heard the same interview, but didn't take it as gospel, as obviously you did. His stating the obvious i.e. if they had anything they would have found her and/or arrested someone, doesn't translate to they bungled. That is a "Well, duh!". This is not a trivial case. HE and I repeat HE is not privy to what the cops/FBI know. The only point I agreed with him on was that she won't be found alive.

In order to buy into what he/you were saying one would have to believe in ALL CONSPIRACIES ALL THE TIME - and I don't. Do tell us why the cops/FBI would participate in your alleged conspiracy.

Neenah, nothing wrong with stating your opinion -- and you may be right.

The posts are all interesting and helpful in trying to put this missing girl mystery together. So many dots!

I am one of six and when we were young sleeping arrangements varied. Two in a room and there is a disturbance (which there must have been if someone is waking a person,) I believe my sister or I would not have been passive - (maybe so if he was weilding a gun and making threats)even in a sleep stupor I believe a kid could run down the hall, across the hall for help - I'd probably be dead but I don't believe someone would have easily removed a teenage girl from the safety of mom, dad and an our home.

I've wondered what the gunman could have said to make Elizabeth move so quickly so quietly. Just seems to have gone so smoothly. Not a sound, not a whimper, no pleading. Did he have a stun gun or an ether substance to render her so helpless. Was there a live-in nanny? So much is missing here. My prayers are that she will be found and safely returned to her family. So sad to hear of any missing child.

I have a friend who is now a police chief in Illinois. He investigated child and sex abuse cases for years. He's said the SLPD has been very professional, and done all the correct things. He said it looks like to him that the abduction was very well planned, but that eventually the police wil get whomever took Elizabeth. He also said it is very easy for other policemen and detectives to armchair quarterback abductions from places around the country, but when it happens in your area, it becomes a whole different thing. d

At first I was admiring of the SLC cops. Maybe, I hoped, they'd not make the mistakes of the Colorado cops in Ramsey and LA in Simpson.

And up till now, I've been pleased. Leaks have been very controlled, witness no info about Ricci released until after the Edmonds interview. So far the family has not lawyered up or hired PR. Many, as we hear it, have voluntarily submitted to lie detector tests and had their computers taken for review. It looked like an investigation that was happening and percolating right along is what I'm saying here.

By now, I've convinced the SLC cops don't have a thing.

Nothing wrong with this, one could argue, but they seem to be playing head games with the public and everyone tangentally involved with the case. It might well be how they intend to eventually crack the case.

First, I'm not at all convinced Ricci is the perp though by the SLC cops, he does have the closest involvement. There's the cap and the history of employment by the Smarts. There's also the unusual Jeep thing but I ain't buying it. This guy has blood and blond hair all over his seat covers and he returns the car to the mechanic and disposes of this evidence only then? Ricci's a criminal type. He'd have dropped the bag off down a ravine along the way rather than right there in public.

And that cap! He would leave the cap hanging in plain view? And why his father-in-laws house? This would tell me that Ricci carefully planned the abduction to include stealthily absconding with his father-in-law's hat and to return it just as stealthily after the deed. *IF* Ricci abducted Elizabeth at all, I'm betting it was an impulsive act....ie... he was already there to rob and took the child on a whim.

I'm also suspect of how the details of the hat as Mary Katherine remembered, were released AFTER the SLC cops had Ricci in custody and AFTER they'd done some snooping around Ricci and the in-law house and saw that cap hanging. With a little pursuasion Mary K's hat could have morphed to match the investigators' description.

And everywhere along the way in this investigation, I note the released statements constantly cover all possibilities, both stranger or familial adbuction. Even with Ricci they at first inferred that he had accomplices.

If Ricci had accomplices and any of them were named Smart, does anyone really think Ricci is a noble enough man to go to jail or to Sparky by protecting these people?

The total lack of forensic evidence gives me great pause as well. I don't care if Ricci "threw away" those seat covers in full view of the mechanic, the cops still combed that car with a fine-toothed comb. They found nothing? No blond hair? No blood? No ES fingerprints?

They've already tore the guys trailer apart peaking beneath those cat boards for bodies and such.

Though it all....nothing. Nothing except a man whose wife swears he was in bed with her all night save a bathroom break. Sure, she could be lying. My husband could lie for me should such a strange scenario occur and where would I be? Same place as Ricci, no eye witnesses as to my alibi on the night in question save a lying spouse. Lots of folks in that position if it came to it. And the unusual bag of stuff the mechanic witnessed Ricci take from the Jeep. Really questionable to me.

I'll not go so far as to suggest the cops would actually arrest the wrong perp. I'd like to think this country is mostly beyond that sort of thing. But I would suggest the cops are putting on a big show when they've got nothing.

This is the same as many of us on this thread have been thinking..and on many other boards. There's too many things that are not adding up, and it's a crime that they're covering it up because of who they think they are, thus causing a guy who has a rap sheet a mile long take the hit for this, but is NOT involved w/ this crime. Whoever did this to Elizabeth should pay for this since they wanted to play. It's a shame that there's so many corrupt police depts throughout who will deliberately nail someone just to cover for someone else...Thank You for posting this as you heard from the FOX news channel.
