Dick Gephardt's appalled. Tom Daschle's chagrined. Congress, in general, is at wit's end.

It's time for us to do something, they say. WorldCom. Enron. Global Crossing. Enough.

Here's what I say: not so fast. Before you start policing other peoples' books, police your own.

No, Congress is not fit to judge, much less criticize, much less fix things

Preach it brother, Preach it...

We sure don't need there help on this problem. It for sure will be a lot worst off when they get done.

On another thread someone mentioned $6 billion in fraud and waste in the department of education.

Yes, they need to clean their own houses first.

They made a $300 million education loan to one student. They never caught it, but the GAO found it.

What bothers me the most is that the governemnt is telling corprations to get their acounting practices together.

the IRS could not acounting for 66% if its budget Education Department could not acounting for 50% of it budget and what happen Congress give them more Money

Oh no Mud, you can't do this. You're making entirely too much sense and Washington will NEVER understand commonsense.

"Washington politicians have for decades been doing precisely what Enron has been accused of doing -- concealing debt with accounting tricks. Congressmen tell us that our Social Security taxes go into a trust fund to pay for future retirement pensions. That is a boldface lie. The Social Security trust fund has no money in it. What Congress does with Social Security trust fund money is buy government bonds. The purchase of government bonds disguises the deficit by reducing the national debt."

Walter Williams is one of my favorites, too. I realize the RATS are gonna try to tie the GOP and Dubyuh to these various corporate scandals, but the fact is these crimes occurred during Clinton's watch and were simply discovered by the GOP executive branch. If the RATS really believe the American people are so STOOOOPID that we can't see through this, I believe they are fooling themselves. Of course, there are some on this Forum who believe the Sheeple ARE that stoooopid, and will never learn...which makes November's election quite important, IMHO.

Neil Cavuto's commentary should be e-mail and faxed to the entire Congress. I am so sick of the way they run our country.

Who better to mail this to than the Congress, starting with Bob Barr?

"When government screws up, the politicians go to higher office, the employees move to new jobs within the department, the department gets more money to fix the problem, and taxpayers pay more taxes!!!"

Exactly!! Especially at the Federal Level, our politicians have become totally unaccountable for their actions. We could really send an important message by indicting and convicting T-Mac for his campaign finance abuses, then use the information we get during the Discovery Phase for that trial to go after Der SchleekMeister for his many felonious actions!!

Seriously, how can we ignore rampant corruption in the Executive Branch and still lay claim to legitimacy in prosecuting others?! It goes to the very core of what is wrong with the Federal Government these days, IMHO...we go after CEOs whose crimes pale in comparison to the crimes committed in and around the Oval Office between 1992 and 2000. Clinton and his Corrupt Cronies have got to be brought to Justice to relegitimize the offices they despoiled!!

RE-IMPEACH. CONVICT. DETHRONE.
DISBAR. DE-PENSION. DELEGITIMIZE.
INDICT. CONVICT. IMPRISON. DISCARD KEY.

Excellent link, my FRiend...

"THE WASHINGTON TIMES", By August Gribbin, April, 1999

"GOVERNMENT CAN'T BALANCE BOOKS"

"The U.S. Government can't balance its books and can't properly explain how it spent $1.8 trillion last year or account for $1.6 trillion in such assets as parks, buildings, missile launchers, tanks and paper clips. That's $1,800,000,000,000 in dollars and $1,6000,000,000,000 worth of things--a grand total of $3,4000,000,000,000."

And this is who we want funding a New Prescription Drug Entitlement?! Gimme a FReepin' break!!
