Has anyone seen detailed arguments in favour of reparations? Usually for any cause you can find someone articulate enough to put together an essay that at least sounds like a well-reasoned stance for a position (until you look into facts that are conveniently omitted from the presentation), but I cannot even think of a rational-sounding argument that could be made for reparations.

Look for stuff by Randall Robinson or Cornel West. Both are big reparations baiters. And both present superficially "convincing" arguments. There is no substance once the surface is peeled away, to be sure, but their idiocy is entertaining, and usually well written.
