Dreaded by fish biologists, it is capable of clearing out a pond of all living creatures and then wriggling on to new hunting grounds on its belly and fins.

Even worse, the fisherman - perhaps thinking it was a rare native species - released it.

I've seen sea lampreys spawning in freshwater streams while trout fishing. Not a pretty site, they were grabbing rocks and making a spawning bed.

Walking Catfish was my first guess too. Are they the same fish? I thought the Walking Catfish was native and was a little surprised by the snakehead. I'm not familiar with them, until now.

I read about the Walking Catfish somewhere other than Nat Geo.

There are 25 kinds of snakehead fish,………
"If you catch it, kill it," said Lunsford. "It's not a 'dead or alive' thing - we want it dead."

Kill it??? For goodness sake, bring over all 25 kinds and plenty of them. We need diversity, I tell ya ;-)

Carville is an alien! Those pics prove it! Wasn't it on some tabloid thing not too long ago? Umm... I should probably get real quiet now...

I stand corrected. Calling Carvill a snakehead is a slander against snakeheads.

Ugly fish ping!

As I recall the Walking Catfish was from Asia. I think I read about it in National Audubon. I don't recall how it got to Florida.

You know, some might find it a bit perculiar that these fish wipe out all the native fish, and that they come from China.

Some might even say that this is a ploy to make us even more dependent upon foreign lands for our daily substinence.
