They were telephone warrants. The judge gives them permission/issues the warrant over the phone and then signs them whenever the paperworks crosses their desk. I was weirded out the first time I noticed the difference in execution and signature and researched it. It has been around and legal prior to 9/11.

That happens all the time.. Attny instructors tell students that it ANNOYS judges to show up at their houses that late at night..
