Have you read the article covering dw's mother's interview? What do you think? The dad and dw were horndogs, dw was a loner who partied all night at bars while married, brother was openly gay and died of aids. Sounds like dad might have been abusive or at least negligent and there was the problem of alcohol.

The mother didn't seem terribly overjoyed to be either a wife or a mother. She left her daugher when she left her husband. The words were "I left him with his daughter". What's up with that? It could certainly go a long way in explaing the discord, don't you think. IMO, the mother has a lot of her own issues aside from this.

I did read it last night. Very sad and disturbing I thought. Sounds like quite a dysfunctional family. The part about the gay brother caught my attention. It is within the realm of possibility that he was molested as I understand many people who 'become' gay were molested as children. I couldn't say for sure without more information. If he was molested, then it is certainly possible that DW was also. Victims of child abuse who do not deal with these issues are very likely to become abusers as adults. All pedophiles have been abused as children, however all victims do not grow up to be abusers. Victims will either identify with the victim's feelings or the abuser's feelings and that dictates their future behavior. That's another reason why early intervention is so important.

If there was no sexual abuse in the family, I'd strongly doubt DW is a pedophile. Plus, 'womanizers' don't like kids, they usually only go for adult women.
