I'm not a Couric fan by any stretch of the imagination.... Ann looked like a tramp, plain and simple. Couric looked like a liberal.. we expect that from her. I thought Ann was pretty much unprepared, and it showed. Unprepared? Maybe she actually was prepared to talk about the book, not have a Ally McBeal-esque restroom confrontation.

Ann looking like a tramp? Damn! I guess I missed that! That's what I get for working nights! :-(

American political thought has become increasingly influenced by a group of tough, conservative, independent-minded women. This is the one area were I might give some consideration to human cloning. We could use lot's more smart, no-nonsense conservatives like Ann, Laura, et.al.
To: Cicero5
Ann was unflappable and spanked her. Alright, now you are getting me excited!
To: kjam22
I thought she was beautiful on that show. She made Katie look frazzled and dopy.

I'm beginning to think that the amazon.com group that edits/checks book reviews before releasing them out to the public site have a liberal bias of their own. They are based in Seattle. Duh!

I read it in one sitting yesterday....after having to go a treasure hunt to find it inside Borders Bookstore (it was NOT displayed out in the open).
My only complaint was that I was fooled into thinking I still had about 50 pages to go...instead it was all footnotes. ;^)

Katie's got beautiful eyes, a beautiful smile, and great gams. AAAAAAUUUUUUGGGHHHHH!!!

"No... name calling would be to say Ann IS a tramp. (which I didn't do) Point of fact is to say she LOOKED LIKE a tramp. Which she did. " Well that certainly clears up the subject doesn't it. So, you now skip to liberal method #2 of attacking the person rather than debating the issue.
I'll admit to doing the same thing on occasion but after reading Bernard Goldberg's Bias and getting half way through Ann's book "Slander" I am attempting to not fall into the liberal mode of debate.
Be well!

I watched it twice and it was clear couric was emotional and losing her composure. Couric, the perky little repeater of leftisms, was left not only challenged, but having to think on her feet (I mean her bum.). It must have been excrutiating for her.
To: Palmetto
Oh, stop it. It's true. Katie would be just as much an object of adoration on FR if she was on Ann's side.
If I was at a reception and was at the same punch bowl as Katie, there is no doubt I would strike up a conversation. If she revealed herself to be who she apparently is, I would not talk to her again. What's the prob? Am I alone in my ability to objectively be a judge of beauty and ideological compatibility?
To: kjam22
I'll leave the assessment on which woman was better dressed to you, but I was very impressed with Coulter's intellectual performance on the Today Show.
I'm no Coulter sycophant, but she clearly got the better of the exchange with Couric. Couric had all the advantages but Coulter kept the initiative and made the host look like a fool. The proof was written all over Katie's face at the end of the segment.

It was Mike Barnacle. Ann Coulter was forced to deal with Katrina Vander Hoeval (sp?) - the left's answer to prune-faced Ernestine the Telephone Operator. Ann apparently thought she would be one-to-one with Barnacle and was frustrated that KVH shared the airwaves. She was right - VH lectured her for what seemed to be about twenty minutes on her extreme, right-wing, bigoted, ugly, dumb ideas. It proved most of the points of "Slander"! By the way, the book is not only on point - it is utterly hilarious! I recommend it highly.

No... name calling would be to say Ann IS a tramp. (which I didn't do) Point of fact is to say she LOOKED LIKE a tramp. Which she did.If you read Bernard Goldberg's Bias, you would recognize Couric's referring to someone calling her a "right-wing tele bimbo" as a sly way that media leftists put out front a warning unfamiliar viewers what they should think about someone. Your statement saying Coulter "looked like a tramp" seemed eerily similar.
Similarly, when Couric and Lauer said the Reagan book author 'called the Gipper an airhead,' they did so out of context, making it seem as if that was the conclusion to which he came. This is what happens when you don't think enough about the message you REALLY want to get across.
It's the crucial difference between "I'm not a doctor, but I play one on TV" and "I play a doctor on TV, but I'm not a real one."
To: L.N. Smithee
I knew my statement would catch some heat... and I completely accept each of your statements. My point is this... Ann Coulter is not the person I want speaking for me. I don't view her as a true conservative. I view her as a person who has figured out how to get her 15 minutes of fame. That being by wearing short dresses that attract the white male, and then saying the things that he wants to hear.
I know a lot of what I consider conservative men and women. And the women don't dress and act like Ann Coulter. Being conservative is more than the words a person says.
That's just my opinion. I'm not saying I disagree with the statements she makes. I'm saying she's about 4/5ths just an entertainer.

But IMHO, her smile is too gummy - makes her look like The Joker - and she's got the legs of an overweight cheerleader. Combine all that with her attitude, and there ain't a pole in this world long enough.

I ordered this latest book by the saintly, stately and statuesque Ann Coulter from Amazon pre-publication, and they have informed me it it is being shipped. Anticipation without bounds....
To: Fixit
Coulter's book is #1 on Amazon already, however there are a bunch of leftists who wrote one star review of the book even before it hit the shelves. Childish.

"I thought Ann was pretty much unprepared"
I didn't see this show, but I've been disappointed in Coulter for a long time. She increasingly substitutes smart-ass one-liners for real argument. My impression is she's become arrogant and is too self-conscious of her role as the "leggy conservative bimbo." It pains me to say this, but I think it's true.
