And other benefits...
There is apparantly an entire little mini-industry built around being a victim of Chernobyl. I know where I used to live in Germany, every year a bus load of Ukrainians would show up and go off to stay a couple-few weeks with a German host family for the ostensible purpose of "getting a healthy diet/vitamins" and perhaps a little western medical care- taken care of by the host German family. Our landlady (the neighborhood busybody- she was a nice lady though) sponsored two of these victims. She paid for their trip and the things they did while they were in Germany as well as urge me to take them out to the local Biergarten- which I did on several occasions (cultural experience).
I don't know if these guys were sick or not- they did seem sickly, although they could sure put away some Pilsner. One was a really nice guy, I used to beat him at chess often. The other guy was not so nice, he beat me at chess often ;-)
At any rate, this article is good ammo against the anti nuke Greenies. Dangers are vastly overrated (although I still wouldn't want to be anywhere near a nuke plant that had an accident)
What you don't know can't hurt ya?
