(703) 386-8602ACU's Keene Calls for Impeachment of Judges Who Ruled Pledge Unconstitutional
(Washington, DC) - American Conservative Union Chairman David Keene ripped today's 9th Circuit Court ruling that the pledge of allegiance was unconstitutional due to the inclusion of the phrase "under God" and called for the impeachment of the two judges who came up with such a ridiculous opinion regarding the separation of church and state.
"These are the kinds of goofy decisions we'll see more of if Senate Majority Leader Tom Daschle and the Daschle Democrats keep bottling up the President's nominations of dozens of judicial appointments," said Keene. "The President has done a magnificent job selecting qualified individuals who will refrain from this kind of judicial activism. His nominees should be approved without further delay, and Justices Goodwin and Reinhardt should be impeached and put out to pasture."
Keene said the ruling should be immediately appealed to the full panel of the 9th Circuit Court and ultimately, if necessary, to the Supreme Court.
"If this ruling is allowed to stand, the days of 'God Bless America' and 'In God We Trust' are numbered," said Keene. "I find it absolutely amazing that anyone could interpret such general references to a supreme being as a government establishment of religion. It defies common sense. But unfortunately, that's par for the course out there on the Left coast."
Keene called on all Americans to rise up in anger and indignation and demand that Tom Daschle and the Democrats free the judicial hostages and allow the Bush appointments to bring some sanity back to our judicial system.
"This decision should bring home to the American people why the fight to appoint judges who will interpret the Constitution and not re-write it is so important," concluded Keene. "I hope every American who is outraged by this decision gets on the phone and calls Tom Daschle demanding he stop obstructing the judicial confirmation process."
