My only claim to fame is that Dr. Laura used a vignette from my life that I sent her in her book "Ten Stupid Things Men Do To Mess Up Their Lives."

Yowch, how great is that, being an example of what NOT to do to mess up your life?

My daddy always said "son, no one in this world is completely useless. He can always serve as a bad example."

Never knew he meant ME.

now-discredited "consumer sovereignty" principle

So Sunstein doesn't think that the customer is king? He ought to try running a business. A real business; one that relies on customers for its livelihood, not a government-grant "study".

Thanks to Ann Coulter for mentioning Freerepublic!

Ha ha ha! Better than ending up in Michael Jackson's confessional all-time crushes tell-all, I suppose.

~~Additional freerepublic reference, page 114:~~

(Internet) In a ranking of the nine most-visited websites in the "Politics & New Media" category, conservative sites regularly outnumber liberal sites.

Though the rankings vary from month to month, the list for March 2001 is typical: Four of the nine are conservative websites: drudgereport.com (number 2), townhall.com (number 4), freerepublic.com (number 6), and reagan.com (number 9). Only two are liberal websites, coming in at numbers 5 and 8.

It's really another name for the free market economy/competitive enterprise system.

I'll have to remember that one.

Yowch indeed. I realized that you sent her the vignette, as opposed to calling in her radio show, but I've never understood how anyone can call Dr. Laura or any other radio show dealing with personal problems. I've called local sports radio stations a few times, and I would invariably hear comments in person from somebody who heard me on the radio. It doesn't matter what time I called, or how obscure the show was, there would be at least one person in real life who would recognize my voice and tell me he heard me on the radio.

Anyhow, I just know that if I called up Dr. Laura to ask for her advice, there would be many friends and acquaintances who would recognize my voice. Yikes!

Well, in my case I responded to her on-air call for personal anecdotes by faxing her my own. It's a bit less risky as she only included my first name (my actual name, though, I might add).

I figured I would be helpful, just like I said according my father's words: I could serve as an example of what NOT to do. I thought maybe it might help some poor guy down the road who found himself in a similar situation.
