The Bush Administration gains a lot if Simon wins. Parsky has only made life difficult for Simon since he won the nomination. Obviously the Bush Administration would be better served to terminate any involvement Parsky has in politics and dedicate themselves to helping a Republican with values close to Bush to win in California.

The Bush Administration gains a lot if Simon wins.

Key word: "if."

Simon can't get off the dime against a pathetically weak Democrat with tons of baggage. That implies that Simon has some huge problems of his own. Your "if" is looking like a really long shot.

And if Bush throws his full support to Simon and Simon proceeds to lose, it costs the Bush Administration a lot.
