I had my daughter snatched from me by her mother several years ago. We had no warning; she just showed up at our church that morning in disguise, and crept around till she saw her in the hallway, took her by the hand and just walked right out with her. She was six at the time.

Time to go home came, no daughter. We looked frantically everywhere for her, and soon the suspicion dawned what must have happened. Thankfully the mother called and left a message on our answering machine.

I had to get a court order and fly up to the state where she had her, get ANOTHER court order--the lawyer's fees were ungodly--before I could take her back home. Luckily the mother wasn't real bright, and actually thought I wouldn't come after her.

But my daughter was gone for two weeks, and for MONTHS afterwords would wake up with nightmares of being snatched again--even though she loved her mother, it was quite frightening for her.

She was so unsettled, she ended up not passing First Grade that year. Even today, when the subject comes up with her friends that she is a grade behind them in school, she gets very angry at what her mother did.

People don't realize the damage that snatching even a very young child can do. It is extremely frightening for them, even if their abductor is a trusted parent.

I pray that you get your son back. Our whole family is praying.

God bless and keep you, Sister.

Illbay, I am sorry to hear about what your daughter went through, although I'm glad to hear that she's back with a caring and stable parent. Is she doing well now?
