Because we can't racially profile, and they know it. They have free reign in America. Who can question them?
While the police cannot pick these men for questioning/harassment (yes, I advocate harassment to let them know they're being watched, at least until we can get them out of here).....every citizen can profile them on their own and relieve the police of that charge.
The next time you see a middle-eastern man, between the ages of 18 and 40, call the cops and say he's acting suspicious.
Then the police are simply investigating a complaint from a citizen on "suspicious activity".
Like all broad-based enforcement actions, many of these "suspicious" men will be up to something......or they're illegally here....or they'll try to evade......or there'll be something showing in the back seat......or no insurance......or any number of other things that will allow the police to LEGALLY start beating that bush.
One great big giant fishing expedition targeting arab men.......but the police can show they're not profiling based upon the calls from citizens.
"Hi, my name is Joe Blow (use your real name/address/phone nr) and I saw a couple of A rab fellas down at the Texaco and they were acting mighty funny.....suspicious.....driving a 1997 Dodge Caravan license xxxxxxx.......I think you ought to check 'em out"
At least half of those calls will result in the police making contact........once they have a reason to make contact, ask questions (where are you going, what are you doing etc.) we're half-way there and the cops don't have to worry about "profiling".
