Mohammedanism was a heresy: that is the essential point to grasp before going any further. It began as a heresy, not as a new religion. It was not a pagan contrast with the Church; it was not an alien enemy. It was a perversion of Christian doctrine. Its vitality and endurance soon gave it the appearance of a new religion, but those who were contemporary with its rise saw it for what it was: not a denial, but an adaptation and a misuse, of the Christian thing. -- [Belloc, The Great Heresies]This is why you'll never catch me jumping on the "Moon God" bandwagon; as Belloc shows, the Moslems are playing for the same team as we are -- but have been fatally deceived as to the rules of the game. Interestingly, Belloc goes on to point out the many similarities in nature between the "Mohammedan heresy" and another, more familiar heresy -- Calvinism.
But I digress.
We should all ask the Blssed Virgin to pray for the end of the Islamic heresy and the return of its adherents to the worship of our True God and True Man, Jesus Christ. In the meantime, let's keep the Rosary in our hands and the martial spirit of Tours and Lepanto in our hearts. Deus Vult!
